Family of 6 Accommodation? Hawaii Trip (& Maybe LA)

Hi I am looking for accommodation for a family of 6!

2Adults, and 4 kids 3-12yo.

Next trip is Hawaii as I grabbed the recent Jetstar $600 tix (still cost me about ~$700 with meals and baggage)

Now the need to find reasonable accommodation as we are away for 2 weeks.

I am toying with the idea of possibly spending a week in Waikiki and then flying a week into LA to maybe do Disney Land etc. (given that accomm may be better priced in Anneheim?)

Any thoughts?

  • Priceline and Hotwire are generally your best bets in Hawaii

Accommodation in Hawaii is expensive…you might find something AirBnb a little way out….there are good bus services and cycle routes into the main areas of Honolulu

    • thanks Danoffer, ill check them out but i dont think the missus will let the kids ride into waikiki!

  • LA is still a good 6 hours flight time from Hawaii and I imagine it would cost you a similar price to what you've already paid. Plus car hire etc it would add up.

    • True, about travel time and cost, but im thinking that if LA has more reasonable accommodation, then i could wear the flight costs, given the cheapish Jetstar SYD-HON flight and pay that again for the HON-LAX return but squeeze in Disneyland and some other shopping!

  • Your best bet are one or 2 bed condos and self catering We have been going back and fore Hawaii for 15 plus years you can get a one bed with a pull out sofa bed in the lounge for around $130 a night US. Plus tax. Depending on what time of year. Try Waikiki a Banyan to start but many more there too

Hi Glo I just sent you a private message about some accommodation timeshare that I have around the world that may be of use to you in your travels

  • Try vrbo. It's a site where owners rent out direct. You can get apartments or houses on there.

We've stayed at hilton hawaiian village and they have 1 bd suites. Bedroom has two queens and separate living area has a double sofa bed.

  • Hire a full stretch limo from ABC in HNL 3+ hour tour of beaches etc. for USD$220.

  • I bought two Jetstar adult flight tickets and an infant ticket to Hawaii from their sale. Seemed like a good idea until you investigate accommodation costs which are crazy right now with the week Australia dollar so we are going to a cheaper Pacific island. They are starter plus tickets (so I can change the name and date for free) and after all of the fees the cost me AUD$800 each return. Any suggestions for reselling them at a discount?

  • Airbnb?

Edit: i just checked the prices. They are gruesome, please disregard.
