Samsung 8GB EVO MicroSD with SD Adapter for $4.95 Including Shipping @ PC Byte

2500

Do I need a fast, 8GB MicroSD card? Perhaps, more importantly - at $4.95 shipped, does it matter? I'm sure you can find a use for it later ;)

We're happy to present this one-off deal for Samsung 8GB EVO MicroSD in retail packaging with MicroSD to SD adapter included.

Terms and Conditions
* Sale lasts strictly while stocks last or until Friday (3/10) Midday - but probably the former.
* Limit of 10 per customer.

Please Note: We anticipate the possibility that there will be heavy traffic to our website for the duration of this promotion - if our website is slow, please bear with us. Please also note that there may be a one business day delay in dispatching your order due to the volume of orders.

UPDATE 12:22 - Lots of requests for other capacities as anticipated - but we want to make sure we don't overstretch ourselves and we can dispatch the orders we do get in a timely manner, so please give us a bit of time to assess how things are going, maybe give us until around 1:30-2pm so we can see what the number of dispatches is like. Then we can make a call then. Worst comes to worst? We'll probably be around next week :P

Update 1:20PM - added some items, currently locking horns with my manager about 32GB/64GB MicroSD cards, apparently some issues due to low Australian Dollar, I'll keep you guys informed.

Update 1:50PM - Added some Lexar MicroSDs, I know, not the best. Still locking horns about something faster. I'll get back to you as soon as I can, sorry about the wait :(

Update 3/10 10AM - For those who are wondering about stock, we managed to secure more stocks of the 8GB EVO yesterday - that's why we are not out of stock. The volume of orders may mean a slight delay in processing and dispatching your orders though - so please bear with us if your order does not get dispatched this side of the week. Sorry I couldn't do much for the other capacities :( You have until midday! Happy shopping! :)

ADDED ITEMS
Sandisk 32GB Ultra SD Card for $20.95
Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 for $129 + shipping.
Lexar 32GB Class 10 MicroSD for $18.95 - retail pack, MicroSD to SD adapter included, limited stock available. Please note this is not the edition with the USB3.0 Card reader. (Out of Stock :( )
Lexar 64GB Class 10 MicroSD for $38.95 - retail pack, MicroSD to SD adapter included, limited stock available. Please note this is not the edition with the USB3.0 Card reader.

+ve for the mention of OzBargain on the product listing! I am however looking for a larger capacity SD card at the moment though.

  • Im after 4 x 32gb. Any deals on them op?

    • After all those crazy sale prices on 32GB in the not to distant past? Not just right at the moment. :P Sorry!

Ya that 64GB Evo deal was awesome!.
Highly recommend this store, their service is extremely good!

        • Cheers Iplau, we do what we can :)

        • +3

I second it - excellent customer service (had a few minor glitches that they dealt with professionally and quickly), fast delivery and great prices.. Definitely a good place for when you're after flashy goodness.

  • +6

Rep any possibility for a deal on 16 or 32 GB ones (class 10)?

    • +3

I will need to check with my manager and get back to you. Give me a bit of time.

      • thanks

      • just read your previous post stated not at the moment… that's what I bought the 8 gb one…. should have waited…..
good deal for class 10 anyway

      • +4
        • This is the usual price for Samsung Evo SD card these days I guess, I don't see this is a deal, there are plenty of ebay Australia sellers who selling complete package for this price as you mentioned.

          +1 for shopping-express

        • @Boogi:
Agree with the +1 for SE because they also do great specials on these Evo cards and deals in general with good service. But for the 8GB Evo's they still go for $8 to $10+ mark most places and even on ebay. As they are phasing the 8GB out, you can now get the 16GB for around same price as low as $9.90 as linked above.

      • Cool thanks! Got 1!

  • Any deals on 32GB SD card? Not micro

    • +4

Let me check - as above :)

    • +1

Oh btw, are you looking for something fast or just storage?

      • Don't need a super one fast but am looking for a class 10 card thanks.

        • +1

Added the 32GB Sandisk Ultra SD Card, I know it might not be the price you're looking for but hopefully it's good enough to give it some thought :)

        • @Roland Chen:

Any chance on a deal on the Samsung 64GB 80mb/s SD? I dont mind bulk pack cards. You and Francesca (from MemoryCity days) are awesome

        • @aim54x: You're referring to the Pro? I'm working on the EVO or at least something around that speed range atm. But I can look into the Pro when I get the chance if that's what you're looking for?

        • @Roland Chen: Thanks for getting back to me, I am talking about the card I have linked below

          http://pcbyte.com.au/flash-memory/secure-digital-cards-sd/sa…

I am intending to use it in one of these

          http://www.sandisk.com.au/products/wireless/flash-drive/

If you have something else in the 64GB or larger range (in full size SD) in that sort of speed range that you can reccommend I would be very happy. There is no real rush and I am happy to wait.

    • I am also after 32GB SD card - Class 10

      • +1

        As above comment :)

        • +1

  • Bought one thanks!
but couldn't beat the last deal for 32 gig.

  • +4

Just ordered one. The PayPal payment went to "OZB Enterprises". Is PCByte making that much money off OZB? :)

    • lol no, just the parent company, PC Byte Online is our trading name :)

  • +1

How about 64GB for 29.99$ again, can buy 4. You can easily 1000 of them if you can get that price. Dont mind non-retail as long as its genuine which I am sure it is with you guys :D

    • I've purchased non-retail cards from pc-byte before and they were genuine, I would prefer non-retail if it makes the deal better, the packaging only gets thrown in the rubbish.

      • Trouble with bulk packaging is, as we have explained elsewhere, they're not always reliably in stock because they tend to be extras from fulfilling particular types of orders… but we're always on the lookout to offer them when we can :)

  • +6

  • Leftfield request…OP…

Can you do a better deal for the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard ?

    • This we could probably look into because these things generally don't go out by the hundreds … generally.

      • OK please let me know.

        • Ok, I brought it down to $129 - I know it's not much but it's best I could do, sorry!

  • just buy 1.

  • I've added some items from the requests, currently locking horns with my manager about 32GB/64GB MicroSD cards, apparently some pricing issues due to low Australian Dollar, I'll keep you guys informed.

    • +3

Simple. We kill the Batman manager.

  • Can someone tell me whats special or different about "evo" micro sd cards or compare them to say a class 10 Samsung micro sd card.

    • The EVO cards are faster I believe. The old style class 10s are no longer being produced. That's my understanding, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    • Class 10 just means minimum 10MB/s read/write, it's not that significant. Most of the time if a card claims class 10 it will only just meet those requirements. Problem is there's no class xx higher than 10, so if something is faster its rated 10 anyway. A different type of rating is the U rating, this one is similar but you multiply by 10 I think to get the minimum speed. Similar deal, basically everything with a U rating is U1 (the next one up is U3) so it again means 10MB/s read/write.

This card specifically (EVO cards) Samsung claim as 48MB/s, though it turns out that's only read. I think write is about 17MB/s(?), and for micro SD it's common that write speeds are much slower.

      • Generally speaking, the UHS-I/II cards tend to transfer at faster speeds. I have yet to see a UHS-I card that couldn't at least read at 45/50MB/s but I might be wrong.

Most flash memory differ in read and write. Some Sandisk Models (especially the older ones) have similar read and write performance but, as Alzori noted, most of the Samsung EVOs do read faster than they write.

  • Bought 2. Thanks

  • Purchased a couple of the 8gig but like everyone else it seems I could do with a few 32gig cards :-) pweeeez

  • thanks!

  • Great … was after a few smaller cards :-). Ordered. Thanks.

    • +2

Cheap SD cards + Ali Express or eBay = recipe for disaster.
Quite alot of the cheap ones are fake.

    • +1

A fellow posted a deal from AliExpress prices were good but the fact that one of their capacities for the EVO was "128MB" made it questionable… that and the fact that they photoshopped the vowels out of Samsung in the product picture :P

  • Is there any disadvantage to using the SD adapter full time? eg. in a camera? Or should the adapter only be used for transferring files to a computer or the like?

    • Hello aragornelessar, AFAIK, the adapters are just straight circuitry - there's no chip or anything like that inside. They either work or they do not, speed is not affected.

      • Hi Roland,

I noticed that you have the 16gb Evo in bulk packaging. Does this come with the adaptor?

        Thanks.

  • bought a 16gb to support a 32gb discount

  • Added some Lexar MicroSDs, I know, not the best. Still locking horns about something faster. I'll get back to you as soon as I can, sorry about the wait :(

  • Rep, Any deals on Samsung SSD coming up at all?

    • +1

      <_< possibly :P

      • lol, that's a can not confirm nor deny answer if ever i saw one

  • Hi Rep, I am interesting to get 32GB microSD as well, if you can make good deal, thanks.

  • nice deal. thanks OP

  • Grabbed a 16Gb and two 8gb. Thanks store rep!

  • +2

I've already voted +ve for the deal, but deserves a second for the Rep's efforts.

    • Thanks quarrymaster, we do what we can! :)

    • +1

To Ronald's Boss - let him put stuff on sale for us. You know we'll buy it :) <3

He was also super nice to me the other day when I picked up my WD Reds :)

      • Can someone send me Roland's Bosses address too so I can give him a private massage too?

        • +1

The happy ending is a lie. :P

  • Why does everyone need 32gb for a dash-cam? Is there any reason this would be unsuitable for a 1080p dash-cam @ 30/60fps?

I don't want to record a whole trip, just the last five min before a potential accident right? Regardless, I should be able to get at least an hour of video @ 30fps no? Or am I missing something important?

    • +2

8GB is all you need if you just need the most recent clips. But if you want to keep a larger archive just in case you want to dispute a red light camera or fixed speed ticket or something like that, you probably want a larger card.

    • +1

I advise getting a 1080p 60fps camera, at least if it will do that in day light. Motion blur at the lower fps is a major problem.

Re storage. Not all cameras make it easy to lock a particular clip. Also there will be many times you want evidence when an accident didn't occur.

If you are wanting to dispute a red light camera or similar you are going to need to save the files for at least three weeks to allow for processing time and the issuing of the infringement notice.

I just can see any point in buying 8GB units now. The price difference to 16GB is so small and you are more likely to get a more useful life out of it.

      • +2

One thing to keep in mind, at 60fps the shutter minimum speed will increase, so while you can possibly get a sharper image, it'll be less sensitive in low light.

  • Cheers for the deal mate! I ordered 2 8gbs. I was gonna order one 16gb but they just sold out :(. Awesome site and I'll be checking it out next time I need anything for my computer build! Thanks!

Edit: Not gonna lie, a little sad about the range of selection but I really can't wait for your amazing site to up and running being a full competitor to Newegg.au and other Australian based computer sites. I'm really happy I'll be along on this journey for you guys to be the best of best in computer tech!

    • Hey XxDkoYxX, thanks for the support, the range is being expanded all the time, check back often! :)
