Philips Fidelio HTL9100 Soundbar @ Rio Sound only $649inc FREE Delivery RRP $1049

170

The Philips Fidelio HTL9100 is a 5.1 channel sound bar system with a wireless free-standing subwoofer and two separate speakers detachable from the main bar for true surround sound. It is Bluetooth compatible, and also includes two HDMI ports and 1 HDMI Out.

Thanks to on-board 5.1 decoding, the HTL9100 Fidelio sound bar can automatically switch from a virtual surround sound mode when acting as a sound bar to delivering a standard 5.1 signal when rearranged with two rear speakers.

Powered by 2-cell lithium polymer rechargeable batteries, the detachable speakers claim to be good for 10 hours of sound and are recharged as soon as they're reconnected to the main unit.

The sub is also wireless, connecting via Philips' proprietary SMSC 5.8GHz wireless system in an effort to avoid interference from existing wireless or Bluetooth networks.

Talking of which, the Philips HTL9100 also supports Bluetooth streaming from compatible phones, tablets and computers.

Elsewhere there are two HDMI inputs TI Class-D amplifiers, with a built-in DAC, multichannel audio decoding and Philips' Cirrus Logic 32-bit DSP processor.
Viewed from the side, the HTL9100 has an ‘airfoil’ shape, which means it gently slopes upwards when placed on a TV stand. But it’s not just for show – Philips says this shape also prevents the build-up of standing waves that can cause sonic coloration.

Alternatively you can mount it vertically on the wall using the supplied kit (it’s designed to match TVs 46in and above), but the clever part is that the HTL9100 detects which way it’s installed thanks to a built-in orientation sensor, which uses Smart Equalization to optimize the sound accordingly.

If its Style and Sound you are after this is the only option, Come in Today and Listen and See for yourself !

  • good price ,
    Cheapest I have seen it

  • it's pretty amazing price
was seriously considering this, had i seen this price earlier would have jumped on it instead of sonos

    • How would you rate your Sonos Playbar?

      • +1

The Philips Fidelio HTL9100 has got rave reviews. I think this is a better buy and the price is amazing.

      • I love it dont get me wrong but this philips does look good too. I owned couple of 5s and 3s so i am well into sonos ecosystem so it makes only sense to get playbar and sub instead. Although as i mentioned if the proce was this good this would have made it really really difficult to justify sonos

    • Are you using the Playbar without the sub? How is the bass?

      • The bass on sub is house shaking good when watching movies. I have it connected to playbar although it performs hella lots better in movie mode than music mode

    • How do you handle DTS sources?

      • My tv (sony kdlwb800b) seems to pass it on as dd 5.1 when i watch bluray with dts sound. It also pass 5.1 dd through myy plex home theater (from htpc) from all my mkv movies with ac3 5.1

  • Good price for great speakers. But the battery life isn't as good as they claim.

  • +1

Great speaker and good price. I plan to get one eventually.
Just need to sell off my old Canton sub-sat system first.

Been tracking this for a while and had a play at Myer. I was impressed. I used to sell home theatre so it takes a fair but to impress me when it comes to sound bars and 'wireless' speakers.

As a reminder Whathifi product of the year.

  • Philips site says it's 4.1, not 5.1 as you've stated.
