They should have released this on PS4 and XBOne as well. Still, decent price I guess.

    • Wouldn't mind getting it for ps4 at the same price :"(

    • "All the players of Borderlands 2 are all playing on those [last-gen] consoles, that's the choice they've got. So we want to reward those guys and give them the Borderlands Pre-Sequel experience on that console,"
      -2K Australia's Tony Lawrence

"If you try to image the set of Borderlands players who have already upgraded, that’s not 100 per cent. But if you try to image the set of Xbox One or PS4 owners who do not have an Xbox 360 or a PS3, the difference there is so close to nil you can’t make a business rationalization around that."
      -Gearbox President Randy Pitchford

You're asking them to make a pretty silly business decision.

And, my personal favourite quote from Randy, "Currently there is – between PS3 and Xbox 360 – over 150m installed units worldwide – probably 170m is more realistic. There are fewer Xbox Ones and PS4s than we sold copies of Borderlands 2."

      • I was a last gen player, I want them to reward me with the choice of playing g it on my new system. Not with 'We were too lazy to build a new engine or port the BL2 engine to the PS4 so here, take it or leave it.' Pass.

        • -1

"We were too lazy to build a new engine or port the BL2 engine to the PS4 because we keep making colossal losses on every game that isn't Borderlands and it can cost up to 5 times as much to develop for PS4 and Xbone so we decided to play it safe like reasonable businessmen and release for a console that everyone has"

          Fixed :3

        • @FrankMcFuzz: but, this is Borderlands?

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Well, the point is, when they try something new recently, Gearbox have been missing the mark. I'm not sure how big the losses have been, but, you know, Aliens and Duke Nukem have been awarded "Worst games of their respective years" by numerous publications and websites. I don't think they want to take the risk of spending big dollars to dev for next gen and then miss their mark again. But, it IS Borderlands, so people will buy it regardless.

Which doesn't really mean anything coz they outsourced 90% of the dev work to 2K Australia anyway :|

        • @FrankMcFuzz: Exactly 2K Australia. I for one am not buying this on PS3 so them knowing that people will buy it is wide of the mark.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Well here's hoping they release a remake version once next gen has a reasonable marketshare.

      • I understand their rationale. Doesn't change the fact that there will be a lot of people who won't play it simply because they're done with the last generation of consoles.

        • Exactly, I don't buy PS3 games now. I'm still posting my backlog on it but definitely not buying for it.

      • I can sort of understand where they're coming from, but imagine if all developers were to follow this rationale. PS4/XB1 would end up dead platforms and it would be catastrophic for the video game industry as a whole.

It's going to take a long time for PS4/XB1 to reach +150m installed units so does that mean 2K/Gearbox are going to sit on the sidelines until that happens?

There was a quote I read somewhere long time ago, but I can't remember exactly how it went. It was something like this.

A company must always look to the future and change with the times or inevitably they will one day come to find that they are no longer of any substance.

It kind of sounds to me like these guys aren't seeing the big picture.

I don't buy this either, just thought it might be useful for some people
I'm hoping they will release the remastered edition for PS4 eventually. 2K has been doing it lately

  • Thanks, picked it up!

  • The steam version went up in price.

  • damn got $40 gift card for EBgames …why can't EB be better with prices :( guess i'll be keeping it for Sm4sh

    • once my local EB had the $10 off new preorders but they had the policy not pricematching. which is useless since Borderlands pre-sequel is $79.95 @EB and JB has it for $69 only. what's the point of the $10 bonus?

      • exactly ….it's my bday in a month may just get the mrs to grab it for it. 360 games are dropping in price very quick lately.
