Hiding Deals

So I finally got round to clicking hide Udemy deals which will stop clogging up my main page. So it got me thinking, how does the filter work? The reason I ask is I would like to filter out any deal with the tag 'ebook' or something similar. If I hide a deal with free Amazon ebooks will it then hide any deal from Amazon.com?

I would love to see the customisation go further so I only see posts I perceive as of value vs junk/unavailable in my region (eg Costco).

  • Currently there are only two types of filters for deals

    • Filter out the domain
    • Filter out the user

In the Udemy case you basically block out all deals from the udemy.com domain. Unfortunately that's about as much customisation as you can do here.

  • That's what I thought. No scope to expand to filter by tag?

    • A deal can associate with multiple tags (extra expensive join on the database query) and people don't tag them correctly. Scope — maybe. Having it implemented — not priority.

      • No probs, thanks for the insight.

  • If you use a greasemonkey (or similar) enabled browser, I could probably make a quick script to hide posts with certain keywords.
