  • Don't forget a guaranteed $10 - $500 win with these - that's if COTD is an authorised Canon reseller?

    • Not sure but this deal is brought to you by Dick Smith

  • Got the previous version of this printer -it's a great little home printer, does pretty good photos too

  • There was another deal a week or 2 ago for the MG5560 from officeworks for $45. The price has now gone up to $49. It is eligible for the cashback too. I ended up paying $15 for mine ($45 - $30 cashback). Not sure what the difference between these 2 printers are but they look fairly similar.

    • The main difference of the MG5560 is it has a 6.2cm LCD screen, whereas the MG6460 has a 7.5cm LCD screen.

The MG6460 uses the same 5 ink tanks, but it does print slightly faster than the MG5560 (15ipm in mono, 9.7ipm in colour - whereas the MG5560 is 12.2ipm in mono and 8.7ipm in colour… ipm stands for images per minute).

It's only the MG7160 that has a few additional features like CD/DVD printing and an additional grey ink-tank. Again, it's got a slightly larger screen, prints a little faster, and the scanner is 2400x4800 dpi as opposed to 1200x2400 dpi on the other two models.

The regular ink tanks are tiny though… when it comes time to replacing them, the XL cartridges are only $2 more. And yes, you can buy cheap ink cartridges off eBay, but my experience of them is that the print quality isn't as great, and they eventually do clog/damage the nozzles. No amount of cleaning fixes it. Cheaper ink tends to be more "runny". It's cheaper just to buy another printer!
