The Walking Dead Season 1-4 Blu-Ray Box Set from Amazon UK ~$90 Delivered

Noticed this today after seeing the set on the JB Hifi Website for $154.
Price initially appears as £54.20 + shipping(£3.58) but once you get to checkout and VAT is removed the price drops to £45.17 + shipping which currently works out to be around $90.
UK Blu-Rays are Region B just like ours so compatiblity shouldn't be an issue.
Extra benefit is that this set doesn't come out in Australia until mid-November, whilst it's in stock already at Amazon UK.

  • UK Version I was told to keep clear of as some parts a Censored. Was told to get the US Version

    • Though that the US version is Region A locked. You have a Region A playback capable blu-ray player?. If no then i don't suggest buying the US version.

      • Well that is just crap hey, Locked version or Censored Version.

        • Yeah a bit disappointing the censorship or region locked.

        • @hollykryten:
Or get yourself a Laser bluray player. Region free!!

    • Yeah, I just read that myself… A bit disappointing. Oh well, since it's also censored in Australia it at least you're paying less for same thing. :)
Although I've heard reports that the Australia version of the earlier seasons only have lossy audio?

      • According to this user review at least for the season 1 set it has the same transfer as the UK/European set.

"AUSTRALIAN BLU RAY & DVD HAVE BEEN CENSORED. The BR & DVD are the same as UK/European transfers."

It would assume what you buy here in Australia and what you buy from the UK are the same transfers.

Except it's currently much cheaper from Amazon UK. For example Season 1 BD set alone from JB Hi-Fi is $34.99 and Season 2 BD set is $50.98. Costs too much in Australia.

        • I just read on the bluray.com forums season 2 in Australia only has Dolby Digital audio and no extras. Of course that may be fixed for this box set but we won't know until it's released I guess.

        • @fatpizza:

Well you're buying the UK set from this so it should be right.

      • lossy audio

Side note - I got Breaking Bad blu ray set from JB with 25% off sale a few weeks ago. This is my first blu ray. I'm playing it on PS3 and the audio seems to be a bit.. mediocore. Not that i'm an audiofile, and this is just playing it through the TV, but for some sections have to have it cranked to like 70 and other times at 40-50, but usually watch TV at about 20 (through PS3 with playTV). Anyone else had this with blu rays? Thought they were meant to be the bees knees?

  • Much cheaper from Amazon UK for this compared to in Australia. The Season 1-4 set from JB is $154. You'd save $64 just by buying from this deal.

  • Season 5 Episode 1 - Done !

    • +1

I reckon the Aussie release of this episode will only be 30 mins long with the couple scenes at the 'abattoir'.

  • Censored? What could they censor in it? Shane rooting that female walker in Herschel's barn?

    • It gets progressively more gory from season 3 onwards.

  • My American ps3 has paid for itself with savings on US region locked media, it's not like they are all that expensive now either

    • The Walking Dead BD's from the US are much more expensive than from the UK though. Although they are a better product in the end.

  • $90.24 delivered on OzGameShop here: http://www.ozgameshop.com/horror-films-blu-ray/the-walking-d… with 5% discount code 'DEAD'. Might be faster shipping, but they keep UK stock so it's probably the same version.

  • I still don't own a Blu-ray player…All these box set deals are so tempting! Must r-e-s-i-s-t…
