Looking for a 10+ Inch Tablet for $350

Looking for an update, old thread several months old.

Chasing 10 inch tablet for the parents who currently have a Samsung tab2 7 inch which works fine but too small.

The obvious choice is the Samsung tab 4 version but I'm not really impressed with it. My parents do light work but I'd like it to be useful into the future a bit. What's the best tab around for 350? Must be oz stock prefer in store in WA.

Parents don't want no support.

  • What's wrong with the Tab 4? Too low res?

There's the ASUS MemoPad 10.1 FHD, which gives you 1920 x 1200 resolution but the display isn't as bright as Samsung's displays. It can also be rather reflective outdoors.

Performance is pretty good as it has 2GB of RAM.

  • How about this refurbed Sony Xperia Z Tablet with LTE for $345 all up? (They have a refurbed WiFi only but its actually more expensive)

I've had a WiFi only one since January and very pleased with it.

  • Yeah I just see the specs of the Tab 4 to be very similar to the Tab 2 and 3 before it and for the same price…it's like they've barely improved.

The Z tablet looks good, but I'm not sure how 'Mydeal' is as I haven't heard of them before and don't know much about warranty, invoice, etc.

The Asus doesn't look too bad, but is there anyone selling it locally? Are there any good tablets in the chain stores apart from iPads and Samsung Tabs?

    • MyDeal has a rep on Ozbargain https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/93477/nodes, looks like they are fairly new.

The Good Guys seem to be the only retailer that stocks the Memopad FHD. Other places may be sold out, Myer had it before on clearance for $199.

$296 via TGG. Not really a good price now, but it is one of the cheapest tablets locally that has better than 1080p resolution.

      Other tablets you could consider

      Lenovo Yoga IdeaTab
HP Plus 10 <- These two have fairly low end budget processors but HP Plus has 1080p display but let down by a 6 hour battery life while the Yoga IdeaTab has a pretty big battery though let down by it's fairly mediocre 1280 x 800 display.

      Refurb Galaxy Note
ASUS TF701T with Dock It's above your budget but with stellar specs.

The Nexus 9 is being announced tomorrow. It's not the size you're looking for but it could be worth looking into.

  • Thank you I'll check them all out!

  • You can try Auldi stores for sale stock not cleared. These normally will not be reduced but can be used as a comparisons and they do have ,I believe, a 60 day return policy. Keep box and packaging and scan, photo, copy receipt as it proberly fade by then!

    • No Aldi in WA yet

  • I'm using an Asus TF201 at the moment and I love it.
