bah, full of in-app purchases you can't get by without, such as max defence upgrades. Why would you pay for it in the first place??

  You are right about this game, the sort of in-app purchases it has are stupid. Are there any good games anymore, for either iOS or Android that are actually free and don't have in-app purchases?

  Most if not all games or apps in IOS come with in-app purchases (even some paid app). You pretty much need to negative every games or apps post here. Many games can progress or even complete the games without purchases, just assume it is hard-mode. I have play this game ~2 hrs in total last few days, progress every levels without paying.
