      • Jim Beam Distillers No 3

Note there are also many premium whiskey lines as well, however availability will vary by store.

      • Are you sure its "Bundaberg Rum Reserve"? Stopped producing it a long time ago.

  • Doesn't look to be online at present.

    • the post states it starts tomorrow :)

      • Oops. Sorry

  • Could op please inform on some more well known products that will be included in the deal? thanks.

    • I can certainly name a few well known brands that are part of the sale. If you are after a particular brand I can potentially respond in the negative or affirmative as well. Note that with the Wines there are also multiple back vintages of particular old and rare lines.

      A few Wine highlights:

      • Veuve, Moët (magnums)
      • Krug
      • Penfolds (RWT, 707, St Henri, Bin back vintages (not current release) ex Grange)
      • Yalumba (incl Y series)
      • Wynns
      • Wirra Wirra
      • Wendouree
      • Tyrells
      • Torbreck
      • Taylor's
      • St Hallet
      • Seppelt
      • Rockford
      • Peter Lehman
      • Lindemans
      • Innocent Bystander
      • Henschke (incl Hill of Grace)
      • Brown Brothers
      • De Bortoli
      • Premium French Whites and Reds

Note that while all stores have the majority of lines certain vintages and varietals may not be available at every store.

      • Will the sale be online as well as in store?

        • A limited number of Wine lines will be available online however the vast majority of lines are in-store only.

  • Yes, would be good to see the 'selections' somewhere.

  • The online selection is incredibly limited: https://www.1stchoice.com.au/Specials/MammothWineSale. Also looks like you have to buy a 'bundle' of two of the same wines, in order to get the third wine free.

    • Very true, the vast bulk of lines are in store only.

The in store offer is mix & match: you don't need to buy 3 of the same bottle.

However, having just come from a store, your software is taking the cheapest wines off first. Hence if you buy three bottles of $5 and three bottles of $30 wine, you only get $10 (2*$5) off, not $35($5+$30). If you ask the staff to split the batches, they appear willing to do so. Nightmare for the staff.

  • Hi REP, so what's the cheapest scotch in the offer? The ones you specified are 'too fancy' for mua.

    • VAT69 $36.00

  • seems each store has different stock in the sale.
One store I went to had torbreck runrig as part of the sale but another store didn't.
Also some stores don't carry whiskeys such as hibiki and yamakazi while others do.

  • Went in today, a little disappointing. The sale is obviously just to clear out old stock… tried to get Penfolds RWT but it is only in a certain vintage that is part of the deal, which means it will be very limited in store. Tried to get the Torbreck Runrig but same again. The staff said basically nothing that is current stock will be part of the deal. I left with one good deal though : Wirra Wirra RSW (flagship wine) 6 bottles for just $220 … this is after a surprising bonus 5% off due to their 6pack standard policy! Keep this in mind!

For the premium range (e.g. $100+) also note that stores will unlikely have 3x of the same wine. Which means you have to find 3 different wines at the same price to get full value, very hard to do. That was my experience anyway…

On the plus side, there are heaps of whisky's on the deal offer so if you're a scotch drinker then check it out! Also lots of "daily drinking" wines on the deal which end up, in most cases, 20 - 25% cheaper than Dan Murphy's.

Hope that helps some people decide whether they need to have a look-see!
