PAX Australia Next Week, Anyone Unable to Afford It? Tickets SUPER Cheap on eBay

Tickets for a full 3 day pass to PAX were $150 to purchase when announced but I'm guessing a lot of people can't go (or tried scalping?) but ebay is totally chock full of cheap tickets now. So if you wanted to bring kids, friends, family members, someone only kinda into gaming? Tickets are selling as low as $40 on ebay for a 3 day pass.

Worth taking a look
(Should I do a front page bargain for this? I don't know the rules on those)

  • Seems the 'cheap' ones are all auctions, the lowest I see for 3 day pass is $80, followed by $110 BIN.
So it's not really a bargain, but $80 ain't too bad if someone wants to get a 3 day pass!
Last year I went and hated it, such queue. But that's just me haha

    • I have seen several selling for as low as $47

  • I don't think it could be posted as a bargain due to the legally in scalping? Could be wrong though. Smart and safe choice posting to the forums.

I remember an event being held down near me where people bought mass amounts of tickets to sell on eBay, any ticket that was bought from eBay was rejected.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/new-laws-designed-to-c… seems to say scalping is a big No No.

How can it be scalping if they are losing $100 a ticket?

      • I'm pretty sure from what I read, your not allowed to resell tickets. Profit or loss. Shrug

        • You are definitely allowed to, the PAX staff tell you to.

  • So can anyone explain the difference between EBX and PAX? I went to EBX last year and the year before. I'm more of a PC gamer myself but they both seem to aim itself at the console gamers…

pax last year was more aimed at the pc gamer, than a console gamer to me, that said, i feel pax is about gaming in the broader sense, be in board games, consoles, pc games, cosplay, panels. While ebx has all those things, it's still heavily about consoles

PAX is a huge nerd fest, lots of cosplay, board games, console games, indie devs, oculus demo stations, upcoming PC games. It's pretty huge

      • lots of cosplay

        Hawt~

Lol… sorry for being a pig… anyway, EBX when i went had those as well except for board games… guess I might just stick to EBX if it is going to be in Sydney next year.

I though PAX passes were registered to your name so you can't resell?

    • -1

make sure they aren't registered before you buy

    • They aren't registered to names in any way, definitely re-sellable

I feel like it's my responsibility to urge you not to buy tickets off Ebay.
Do you really want to risk walking up to the door and getting turned away like happened to all those punters at an Alt J concert recently?

It's happened before and it'll happen again. Be EXTREMELY careful where you buy tickets from if it is not an official purchase from the official reseller.

    • The hell are you talking about? PAX tickets are re-sellable, I had a spare one myself which I sold, the PAX people told me I could sell it, they wouldn't do a refund

    • While I appreciate what you're saying you need to know the difference between a Ticketek/Ticketmaster ticket and a PAX ticket.

PAX tickets are HARD PLASTIC. They do not have specific seats. They are not paper tickets that you use to scan in.

  • I often buy AFL and Aus Open tickets (below cost) on eBay. However, the big no no for these PAX tickets is that the ticket #'s are showing in the auction. While I'm not sure if PAX would act on this, it's certainly something to worry about.

If any of you are interested, we have about 15 FREE passes to the Beta Bar PAX Afterparty. Lots of retro gaming and such.

"If you have purchased badge insurance, you have until one week prior to PAX Australia to demonstrate a claimable reason for a refund that the insurance covers. If you have not purchased the insurance the badges are strictly non-refundable, though you can sell your ticket to someone else.

Ah cool. That's good to know.

    PAX > EBX

    • Tickets are starting to go up in value on ebay now.

  • They actually sold out of tickets, surprisingly Ebay tickets still sub $100 at times, surprising.

  • Tickets now over cost price, that was quick

  • I have a Saturday pass if anyone wants it. $40?
