  • if you just want a recorder that works the panasonic dmr-hw220 is best.

    • I have the Samsung one and love it to bits, never had a problem with it :)

    • +1. A solid unit, typical Panasonic. Just works as promises. No software updates required.

  • Anybody know if these have decent interfaces? A quick Google search reveals pretty poor reviews for all in terms of usability and reliability.

So far every single PVR I've tried fails the 'grandmother' test. I'm looking for something my grandmother can use, but so far I haven't found one I can comfortably use. They all fail miserably in some way or other.

    • Samsung ones are pretty easy to navigate when it comes to design, menu's and so on. If you want something basic then you should go for a no name brand because they won't have all the extras in them

      • i dont think you can access recordings with one button press on the samsung , i think it takes about 4 ( unless its changed from older models )……

  • Model run out?

    • Just a normal 20% off recorders and Blu-ray players, ends in a few days. The Panasonic one above is $450 @ HN

  • The Panasonic one is about as good as they get. I got my parents one back when it was $700 and they've been using it every day since.

  • +2

Got the Panasonic 3D-BluRay PVR (ie DMR-PWT540GL) for $300 at JB HiFi yesterday. Supposed to be 20% off $399 but asked and got another $19.20 off. RRP is $499.

Currently streaming Live TV from it to my mobile while it is being used on another channel in another room.

    • In laws have this too (ie DMR-PWT540GL) and rave about it
