I bought these less than two weeks ago, from Dick Smith. Because I thought they were too niche to ever go on sale in Aus.

Who buys something not on special from Dick Smith, (profanity) me right?

    • Yeah i did the same thing a few weeks back also but from JB. (giftcards, so don't feel as jipped but still!)

    • Got these a couple of months ago instore for full price. They had limited stock around the country so I figured it was being cleared out. Never thought it'd be sold online or discounted.

Must buy for any PS4 owner and a decent pair of head phones even for the pc. Well worth it.

    • Anyone have experience with the following headsets:

      • Razer Kraken (USB)
      • Tritton Kama /Kunai
      • PS Gold Wireless
      • Turtle Beach

Stuck on which one to get, I usually lean towards wired because it seem more reliable.

      • +3

Just buy these. They work great and the app that you download for the ps4 allows you to load custom sound profiles so you can hear the game like it was intended. This wireless headset lasts quite a while on a charge and all I did was buy a long cable so I can charge and use them at the same time.

        • +2

Yeah, I've had a lot of headphones in my life, and as far as games and even movies go, these are just fantastic sound quality. When I watch that movie Gravity, I actually prefer to watch it using these - the sound detail is just fantastic, able to hear all quiet background radio chatter.

Bought for my boyfriend. The house is no longer filled with gunshots and police sirens. No more military comands followed by loud bangs. No longer do I wake up at 2am from the sound of a hooker's final scream or a tractor trailer truck exploding. There are no more voices of people who are simultaneously in my living room and South Carolina.

    A+ product. Highly recommended!

    • LMFAO! But still kind of set on wired, either Razer or Turtle Beach I think.

      • +6

once you try (good) wireless, will never turn back to wire

      • I was recently doing research for headsets for my ps4 as well and I came across the Kingston Hyperx which has really amazing reviews and it in the similar pricebracket to the Sony wireless. It's wired and comes with a detachable mic.

ROFL, Maddy sounds like a keeper…

  • Does it have any buzzing? I get a headache trying to use my Logitech f540 wireless headset.

    • No buzzing for me at all and no wireless issues. The wireless issues I have heard people having is when they have it around a lot of other wireless devices etc.

    • I was just wondering the same thing…just about to Google it.

    • Will is work with Xbox?

      • I remember seeing a video on them, with a specific cable they do but not wireless.

    • Yes it does, I use it all the time.

  • My PS3 headphones are amazing but don;t really work with my PS4. This is tempting but having one for each is kinda overkill

  • Good price for an excellent headset. Owned them and been using them. Nice and comfy and nice sound to it. You can also download additional profile for specific games on PS4 after you download the headset companion app but you can only have one custom profile at a time since the headset only support default + 1 custom profile.

I have a set of turtle beach px51. Worth getting these?

    • px51 all the way bro. I love mine :)

  • No stock in Melbourne for C&C ?

    • None in Syd either. Only $4.95 for post though..

I have the first gen Sony Wireless (PS3) headphones. If I was to base future purchases of Sony headphones on the build and performance of them I would never buy Sony again. They are flimsy plastic things and the connection continually drops out (channel hopping maybe?).

BUT a friend who has both the first gen and these wireless gold and they are supposedly very much improved. Personally (as someone who games a lot/too much) I will be getting a pair of SteelSeries Wireless H. 'When' just depends on how long I can restrain from driving over my Sony ones :/

    • +2

a neg? But why? I positive the deal, outline the benefits of the gold over the oft cheaper gen 1 and then go on to provide an example of a 'high end' wireless gaming head set.

      • Lord knows. There is always some cyber-seagull flying in to poop on people…

I've had the first gen wireless, and the third gen. I never had the second gen. The third gen gold is so much better than the first gen, I've never even thought of using the old ones again. They were uncomfortable, sounded nowhere near as good, and the volume control was just too coarse (I could never get them quiet enough at lowest volume). Plus I would get burping noise bursts through them maybe from wifi interference or something. Anyhow, the gold has NONE of these faults, and sound and work fantastic.

From all accounts the second gen was physically flawed in that they would break.

        • and the volume control was just too coarse

This, and inevitably removing the headset from your head would result in bumping the slider to middle/max :(

  • +2

Not the absolute best in regards to sound quality(very good bang for the buck though), however the integration and ease of use with both PS4 and PS3 makes them great. They're especially awesome if you still have both a PS4 and PS3 since all you have to do is switch the USB dongle over to change consoles.

  • anyone know if this will work on pc as wireless with the mic as well?

    • Worked fine on my PC (win8) - just plug the dongle into your comp and it will auto download the drivers and away you go. I didn't try it in an actual game but from the sound set up the audio/mic tested fine.

If you have any RAC purchased WISH cards, don't forget to use them for effectively another 5% off.

I will wait for the $15 or $10 coupon which comes everyday afternoon :D

    • Which always exclude game accessories

  • Again, excellent cans for the RRP. Great value now.

  • out of stock?

Completely out of stock for both Delivery and Click and Collect in Adelaide

Thanks fatkids! Great deal and was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair! =D

  • Noooo Out of Stock :(

  • +1

Dang, tempted, but I want the white version.

    • Same here. I wonder when they will be available though…

I bought the pulse elite headphones (also sony) but the padding on the band is insufficient, I have to wear a beanie when I'm using them! Does anyone know if these are comfortable?

    • +1

Padding is very squishy around the headband making these very comfortable. They're lighter than the pulse elites as well.

  • i am way too late :(

    really want one

  • Great. Thanks. Picked up a set from Westfield innaloo WA.

  • Does anyone who has this headset know how well the mic fares (for both PS4 and/or PC)? I've read up mixed reviews about the headset's mic ranging from being very cracky or decent.

    • This is an old post but yeah, same issue here. I have a pair of $150 Senhheiser 555's (10 years old now!) and they work very very well but obviously, no mic.
If I were to buy a headset like these, I need to know the mic is actually worth it - because I've already got great headphones.

  • Thanks. Picked up a set from Shellharbour NSW.
    Still 1 remaining

  • Strange their C&C say I can pick up one but when I go to checkout there is no actaual 'checkout' button…bugger.

  • Sold out from Dick Smith - what a surprise!

  • +4

Could we mark this as "out of stock"?

  • Hey Guys,
I bought a similar one SONY PS Heatset from COTD some time back and lost the USB dongle any idea what can be done about it?

    • +1

General consensus online is that you're out of luck.
You could try contacting Sony's support department but don't hold your breath.

Your other opinion is to run a 3.5mm cable from the headset to your DS4 and play "wirelessly" that way.

  • +1

That 'instore only' is actually incorrect. Unless you do the C&C the store isn't going to give it to you for that price.

  • ignore.. crazy DSE website

  • +4

Was frustrated missing out by 10am in WA. Walked in to DSE Maddington picked one off the shelf, showed them the click and collect price and that it showed no stock in their store when clearly there was, bought for $79.98. Winning.

  • Dandenong has one left. They prime matched this price, so worth checking your local store IMO

  • +1

tried to buy from karrinyup, perth - says stock available for click and collect, however after doing that it says item out of stock.. looks like no stock in perth

edit: called all over for a pricematch - hardly normal said no for a pricematch but they'll do it for $99

  • Website now saying temp out of stock

  • They're cancelling my click and collect order…I knew I should've gone for the delivery option :-/

  • has anyone else's shipped yet? Or is dick still trying to source the product?
