anyone ozb member is going to buy this super duper expensive tv?
    i want to be her/his friend….

    • This is actually a bargain (not that I can afford it), but compare to the 1st gen plasmas that used to cost like $15k for a 50". I still remember I saw them at Binglee and was like gees…that's a nice/big TV, but nearly fainted when i saw the $15k price tag lol

      • you mean 42"

    • I was thinking to get one buy realized $6796.60. I assumed $679.6 LOLZ

Thanks, bought 3 for my PC gaming setup.

How far away is your desk from the wall mounts?

      • Arms reach.

Is 4k 60hz a standard yet? Even though your PS4 can't do it, what about someone who drops near 7k on one of these puppies, then plugs in a beast beast htpc in 18 months? Can the damn thing even play back video at a stable 60fps?

Don't we need displayport 1.4 connections or something?
I'm wary of buying anything 4k related until we a, have 60 frame support as standard at 4k and b, have the same freesync tech from PC's - it's going to become an industry standard in the next 5 years

    • not standard i think, anyone buy this just waste of money and not making a smart purchase

      • We need people to buy at this price, so eventually the rest of us can buy when they're affordable.

        • Yeah but TV tech is in limbo right now, video tech is in limbo.
"Sync" technology could actually be a significant change to how displays work in general, "FreeSync" from AMD is free - it's going in to displayport, how long until it's in HDMI as well?

Also 60hz is standard (despite playback being 24 or 30) so we need 60hz too, 4k tv's don't offer this consistently yet.

    • Nope, now a year after the Pana WT600 we still only have two models that can do 4K60p properly, the Pana AX800 and the coming soon AX900.

I'm waiting for the AX900 but the 65" price is rumoured to be ~$8000US, hopefully the 58" model is a fair bit cheaper.

    $6796.60 LG 79UB980T

Why is this a bargain ?

    • +1

      Down from $7996

      Over 7K everywhere else

    • Other sites list it for $7500-$8500, $6800 seems like a bargain to me

    • +2

Because it retailed for about $10K 6 months ago and is about $500-700 cheaper than the competition.

Because it retailed for about $10K 6 months ago

Other TV's have dropped around 50% in the last 6 months

  • Disappointing that they can't fit in DisplayPort at that price.

  • +3

I look at $7000 TVs only to see what kind of technology i can afford in 10years time. TV looks great!

  • +2

I'll be back when it's down to $1400.

    • Based on how much 60 inch have dropped in price, it should be down to that price in the next couple of years.

  • I like this but even if I had money to burn why would you get it to watch FTA tv on it that would look like a p o s…

    • +1

Yeah but my Tiny4k clips are gonna look soooo goood.

  • wow thats cheap; thanks going to pick one up…

on the plus side did anyone order a 55" tv from DSE sale a month or 2 ago? they are sending me another one….. based on ebay lolz

    • I bought a seiki 55" from DSE in September. Why are they sending you another one?

      • How did you find the seiki tv? i was abit wary on ordering one because there werent much reviews.
