Free international shipping? Huh? Isn't the shipping always built into the price?

That said, bookdepository is awesome, and an extra 5% is even better.

Although you should always compare with bookdepository.co.uk (which this deal is for), with bookdepository.com (same people own it, but slightly cheaper mostly)… which may end up being cheaper in the end.

    • I thought you had to be making a mistake, but .com is actually cheaper!

  • The .com is often cheaper.. But sometimes the .uk site is.. So I always check both sites :)

  • I ordered 11 books from bookdepository.co.uk and each are comming one by one.. quite annoying lol

It's the way they always process orders.

I believe it's also the reason they're much faster than most big online book stores. Small packages can go in regular postal bags, through the normal letter-mail system, and don't get held up by customs.

It also means you get each book as soon as you possibly can, instead of getting all the books at the latest possible time.

      I like the system.

      • I like it too, but I bought a whole seies of books and the first one hasnt arrive yet. :( Dammit I wanna read the 1st book of the series! lol

Seems to be valid on the .com version of the site too - ie the following URL comes up with the same offer, although I have not tried it all through to purchase:
    http://www.bookdepository.com/givemefive/?a_aid=FreeShipping

    • Just wondering if the US site also offers 5% discount?
I just did a check on the same book from both sites with 5% off.

      US: AU$30.86
      UK: AU$33.06
      Amazon.com: AU$34.70
      Amazon.co.uk AU$44.79
      Cheapest AU retail shop AU$48

Based on purchase of one book title.

      • just tried the US site, added a book to my cart and was able to apply the coupon and the 5% discount was applied. Never did the purchase though as never wanted to order, just testing, but it appears it will work on the US site too.

  • .

  • Something really strange…one time I ordered from the US site because it was slightly cheaper…but when I got the book, the post marks on it indicated it had been sent from the UK!

    • read somewhere that the .com is in UK too, they are preparing to go to USA so set up the .com in advance. dont complain though if getting a book from the .com for cheaper!

    • Same here. They ship it out of the exact same warehouse.

And if you log into the .co.uk website, it shows your orders from the .com website as well.

I'm not sure why they bother with the two different sites, but since it's often cheaper I'm not complaining :P

  • I just had a look on booko and they have now added bookdepository.com to their list to differentiate it from .co.uk

For those interested in George RR Martins work. A Dance With Dragons/hardback preorder is less than AUS$20 delivered on bookdepository.com at the moment. A great bargain, even if you could be waiting for it for a long long time.

    can be found here http://www.bookdepository.com/book/9780002247399/A-Dance-wit…

the 5% is a good sweetner to the deal even if you loose a few cents in the paypal conversion.

    • I've been eyeing that for a while, tempting but going off his blog it doesn't seem like we will be seeing the title any time soon. Might wait till there is a 10% off deal.

  • Also too bad the 10% off deal is over. When I bought my 11 books with was with the 10% off deal :)

    • I couldn't get that 10% to work on the .com site, which was at least 10% off in comparison to .co.uk for what I wanted anyway.

  • People who have bought books before, how long did it take to arrive in aus from the day of purchase?

I just purchased a book for $45 using this offer. Shops here sell it for at least $70. This is great, i'm saving at least $25 :)

    • Sometimes 4-5 days, sometimes 5-10 days. Only one book has taken longer then 2 weeks.

      • That's great, I think amazon took well over 3weeks last time I ordered.
        5-10 days is nothing.

      • Same here. Usually a week or less. Of the 20-30 books I've ordered so far, the longest was 2 weeks and that's only happened twice.

  • I can't seem to get this to work on either the .uk or .com sites… Anyone help please?

Everytime I click on the site, I get redirected to the Book Depository homepage. Also, am I supposed to enter the code in Paypal? I have tried this and got an error message… sorry if I'm noob, don't shop much on the internet!

    Thanks

  • THIS HAS EXPIRED by the looks of it.

My cart which had the discount applied, now doesn't.

    • I know this is an old comment, but I don't think the checkout actually retains the discount. In my experience, you do it just before you checkout, otherwise you have to reenter the code. I don't think most other sites do either, though.

  • It still works for me. Only on the UK version.
