  • Noo.. just bought the 1TB from 9289 delivered for $100, then this comes along.

Good deal, very good dollar to GB ratio. Probably best value drive delivered drive out there.

    • Appreciate the positive comments, pls keep voting~ :)

  • Ouch, when comparing ShoppingSquare's deal to this one, I paid $20 for a USB 2 only enclosure…

  • Just ordered 2. Nice. Thanks for posting it up!

Just ordered 4….the Asian blood in me cant resist the bargain….poor credit card T_T

  • Just ordered 6. great price

    • Be careful if you plan on using them in RAID, what causes one drive in a batch to fail can cause a second one to fail at the same time

    • Whoops, nvm…

    • How so, pickup?

      • I think it depends on your location. After I put in my address I saw the lower price. No way I'm complaining about that! Melbourne CBD here.

    • Probably didn't charge the GST for some reason, they'd already be selling these under / at cost so I wonder if they'll honour it.

      • Yes, we are honouring every single sales. Keep smiling~

    Just ordered 2, great value.

now if someone would just release a decent performing 256 Gig SSD for a reasonable amount of money all would be perfect :-)

    • If you don't mind me asking, why would you need a 256GB SSD?

Most people only want them for a boot drive so much smaller is usually more than sufficient! ;)

      • SSD is a loooooooot faster but can be unstable sometimes. I've tried one and then given up.

      • 128GB is just a bit small. To me you would use the SSD for not only the OS but your most used applications and games ( as it can make a decent difference in load times).
With the size of games and other programs these days i think a 128 would be just a bit too restrictive and i would be forever having to shuffle stuff off the SSD in order to make room, which would get annoying in a hurry.

As an example I have a Recent windows install from only a few weeks ago (on a normal 500G HDD) and there is already 140 Gig used on C drive. Thats with me just using the Machine like i normally would, with a couple of recent games installed, Office and various other programs. Most of my downloads don't go on this drive (some do though but not more than a few gig worth), so after a couple of weeks i have already more than filled a 128 Gig drive.

        • Fair enough, and I presume you've done all the research on SSD pro's and con's for your particular application! Just playing devil's advocate here, but have you factored in the limited life expectancy for SSDs when subjected to large numbers of write cycles (not to mention the low speed for same writes compared to any HDD) that many windows apps/games require! For these and swap space you need another scratch drive (or a mega RAM drive) anyway coz they'll cripple your SSD in months/weeks!

Might I suggest that for the substantial amount of money you're gonna spend on what really is a small drive nowadays, you might also consider investing in a modest SCSI drive for your system stuff, which will vastly improve not just read, but write times as well! To be honest, if you want a single all around solution that would give you better performance per dollar IME! :)

SSDs are like opiates, great if used wisely and sparingly, but definitely not the panacea for all system speed ills! ;)

          • @StewBalls: From all the reports i have read the limited life expectancy is not all that limited due to the wear levelling built into the drives. As for low speed writes that's only with crappier SSD's, any decent SSD with an Indilix or Intel Controller trounces any Mechanical drive quite convincingly, including SCSI as well i am pretty sure.

Personally i think SSD's have the ability to be one of the biggest single improvements in PC usability in years (note that i did not say speed). Startup times will be greatly increased for most programs and just day to day usage will improve as well. Processors are more than powerful enough to handle multiple applications at once these days but any time you are sitting there waiting for something to happen on a PC these days it's usually because the hard drive is hammering away trying to get the information to these multiple programs and all those small delays while the hard drive positions (and repositions) it's heads add up and we see the results as a "slowdown of the computer" rather than what it really is.

            • @raydragon: I had a longer reply in mind but it's pointless coz you've already sold yourself on the SSD hyperbole! To put in a drive that costs as much as a complete system to attempt to fix a problem you could pretty much avert with decent system design and management defies my (albeit stingy) logic! Good luck to you with that! :p

My only suggestion is to do some more research on the real reason behind the "slowdown of the computer" you mention, coz there's a hell of a lot more to it than the simplistic cause you've talked yourself into there! :?

Here's a hint, time to also check out drive interfaces, not just media! ;)

              • @StewBalls: I'm sorry but mechanical drives just can't compare to ssd http://anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3667&p=6

Yes sdd's are at ridiculous prices right now, that's why some of us are waiting (impatiently) for prices to become reasonable. You remind me of a friend of mine who suggested I try striping two hdd's for better performance. It's still not gonna get any where near the advantages of ssd and will be a waste of time and money. The hype is justified StewBalls! :)

  • Just ordered one. Can't wait for it to arrive

  • Way to go iibuy…keep it comming!!! :)
Just bought 1TB less than a month…So tempted for another 1….hmmm

    • haha, we will, please bookmark www.iiBuy.com.au and keep watching great deals to be posted on Ozbargain as well as our website directly.

      • A 3.5 SATA with firewire800 enclosure would be great
        and free delivery of course!

  • Can someone suggest a cheap external enclosure to go with from iibuy site?
Doesn't matter as long as it can do USB.. Thanks
    Never mind, find one.

Hello, how are people getting it for $127? Even though I dont need it, I will definitely get one for that price. I've tried Melbourne + paypal/bank deposit to no avail.

  • is the deal still available?
i'm getting this "Sorry, the product was not found." :(

  • Apparrently ppl getting it for $127 weren't being charged GST for it.
I assume the page takedown is to fix the bug.

Considering free postage and no surcharge on paypal… I think its a reasonable bargain, but not a SUPER bargain.

  • received my drive this morning!
    now that is quick!
    express post bag
    great service

    thanks
