  • For some reason the 32GB version will ship but the 64GB version won't.

  • If you dont mind Android over Windows (all good for web browsing and basic apps), then the LG V500 is a good option:

    For $298 you get:
    - larger 8.3" screen
    - Full HD 1920x1080 resolution
    - faster 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon 600 CPU
    - 2 year warranty from JB HiFi (as advised by the sales reps - its a stat consumer rights warranty, but JB make it easy)

not sure if the CPU is faster - ones made for android / mobile
while the windows one is made to run full windows

selling point for the vivonote 8 is the stylus - and also full windows.. not that full windows app will be good on a small screen

Yep, you can't say higher clock speed is faster. It depends a lot on the microarch and arch. 1.7 GHz Krait (ARM) is very different from 1.33 GHz Bay Trail (x86), and not necessarily better.

Ideally, there'd be a benchmark, but it's a real pain in the arse finding cross-architecture benchmarks. They're probably reasonably close judging by the previous generation (I can't find anything newer right now). Bay Trail is a newer microarch than Clover Trail; Qualcomm is still using Krait but there's been incremental improvements there as well.

End of the day, whether you want a full Windows environment with all associated programs makes a bigger difference than the SoC.

  • what about the charger.will it be the 2 prong one which operates on 110 v ac. i am looking to buy a cordless blower from amazon. how does this work in australia.

    • It will be 2 prong but most chargers are autovoltage. I am 99.9% sure it would take 110-240v. The blower on the other hand would probably need a transformer
