Melbourne to Manila with Philippines Airlines from now to December 5th for $594 return

60

I see some cheap fare from Melbourne, but couldn't find anything that special from Sydney or Brisbane, but you can have a look for yourself.

Also, you could use Manila as a stop on the way to somewhere else in the North part of Asia - Japan, China, etc.

Or even London - $1877 return.

I imagine there are some guys wondering what cost it would be for a return trip, but going there alone and returning with an extra person

Sorry - just had this happen to a family friend (her husband decided to upgrade without her consent!) :(

      • That's a nice verb to use: "upgrade". You don't think much of the friend? Or have a high opinion of Filipinas?

    • Or even better with the upgrade, buy one get one free (kids)

      • Sh-t. I'm flying over there in 2 weeks solo. I only paid for 20kg of extra luggage for return. This excess baggage is going to be a killer.

Probs better off getting a cheap ticket to Sydney and flying return with Cebu pacific for $144.

    • They're not doing $144 right now, but even when they do that $144 ticket is more like $374 by the time you add luggage allowance, in flight meal and a return domestic flight between Sydney and Melbourne.

Pity PAL is flying their crappy old A340s (no seatback entertainment in cattle class) on this route rather than their newer 777s. On the other hand, it's only an 8 hour flight. Royal Brunei are offering Melbourne - Manila return for about $650 at the moment, via Brunei. Melbourne - Brunei leg is on the 787, the two hours form Brunei to Manila is on an A320.

No seat-back entertainment for 8 hour flight in cattle class is a deal breaker for some

And justification for others to purchase a tablet/ultrabook :)

  • Probably better trying new airline cebupacificair.com.au

They had return flights from Sydney for $143. So just need a cheap domestic flight from Melbourne or other cities close to Sydney to use them.

  • After having my iPod (with all my travel photos) stolen from the plane when I was returning, I vowed never to fly PAL again. It was most likely stolen by a Sydney Airport cleaner or caterer, but the handling of the situation by PAL management here was pretty poor. So, until this day (and six flights to the Philippines later) I will refuse to fly them on principal.
