What Portable HDD Is Better?

Hi everyone, I need to buy a new hdd and i've been looking between these two drives.
Armor A30 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KF4DWU6
StoreJet 25M3 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K087BM2?pldnSite=1

Just looking for some opinions and people with experience with these hard drives.
Please don't suggest other drives as I need one that is rugged and a decent price.
I'm not sure about the Armor A30 due to the usb cord which although maybe good, it's not standard so if the cord fails i don't have any spares.

Thanks for your help

  • Silicon Power and Transcend to the best of my knowledge, do not produce hard drives, as the only storage products they make tend to be solid state and flash based.

All they do is buy the drives from an internal HDD manufacturer and wrap it with their own branded enclosure, so these products may be anything from Toshiba, WD, Seagate, HGST etc.

You don't have to split your head open deciding which one to get. These drives will have extremely similar read/write performance with no more than +/- 10% difference. About the only difference may be the enclosure design, the type of cable it uses (some brands use proprietary cables which are hard to source, if you lose your original cable) and the warranty period.

    • I know they repackage HDD it's for shielding i'm looking at them as WD, seagate ect are extremely brittle.
i'm looking at these for the same reason you put a case on your phone.

  • Haven't tried those HDD, I used WD and Toshiba.

  • did you buy one?
