  • I thought this was illegal.

Only the supermarket dockets are capped at 8 c/L. Savings from in-store purchases are okay.

    • +4

They get away with it because you're actually buying stuff at the servo in the same transaction as buying petrol, not at a supermarket.

That said, if you buy 50L, that's only a $5 saving - realistically you will probably be paying more than $5 extra in higher prices for buying groceries at the servo.

      • +5

Unless you only purchase items which are at "everyday low prices".

        Buy the Quilton Toilet Paper 20 pack for $10/pack x 2 packs…$20 total, but on a 50L petrol fill-up, that is $5 off the toilet tissue, ie. $7.50/pack of 20 rolls…or $37.5c per roll…

        That's what I did.

  • +1

Don't buy anything from the shop as they are all over-priced.

    • +6

      Not true.

A few items worth buying in store.

20 pack of Quilton toilet paper $10
100 box of Lipton Tea $3.50
      Coles brand Milk
      Coles brand bread.

All the same price as Coles.

      • +1

        Also:
        - Coles brand Tissues 200pk $1
        - Coles brand pasta 500gm $2
        - Dolmio pasta sauce 500gm $2
        - Coles brand bottled water 24 x 600ml bottles $8

But I must admit I usually just grab 2 x 20 packs of toilet paper, as it doesn't go off. At last count I have about 12 x 20 packs clogging up our cupboards….that's 240 rolls ! Lucky my family are all big shitters …..

  • this deal is not new, has been around for many weeks now…
Edit: feel free to neg but the fine print says offer valid from 07/08/14 so definitely not new!

Positive, I have tried a couple of times back in August ;)

    • +1

Definitely can, promo signs on bowsers say so. (=14c off)

    • +3

I use the two deals together all the time for 14 cents off.

    1. Empty your fuel tank to fill up to maximum.
    2. Spend $20+ on unwanted overpriced items.
    3. Realize it doesn't worth all the trouble.

Let's say I get 40L of fuel per visit.

    40 x 0.14 = $5.60

But to get the $0.14 off, you have to spend $20+

So in the end you are down at least $14.40

I suppose you can get your essentials from Coles express such as toilet tissues or deodorants. So It might be a saving… provided Coles express has the same pricing on these products.

    • You can buy up to 150 litres so take a few jerry cans :-)

    • +1

you need to spend $30+ at Coles to get the 4c off so the above deal- 10c off for spending $20+ on Coles express "essentials" -is not a bad deal

      • fuel goes off after a while, unless you really could use the 150L in a week or so.

        • Only if stored in an open air environment

  • I never buy in store, so expensive. I am especially annoyed when they ask me if I would like to buy a chocolate 2 for 1. As a fatty, is it really responsible for them to offer me chocolate?

    • +1

I saw themoffer the pperson in front of me half price lollies, even at half price it was still more exxy than the Woolies special that week.

U r paying for that 10c discount. Not worth it unless u want 10l of milk.

      • +4

I hope they offer me 8AA/AAA Eneloop Chocolate for $10

        • In the not-so-distant future: "Would you like 2 for 1 Chromecasts?"

    • +2

As a fatty, you are responsible for your choices.
Don't blame them for your problems, you don't have to say yes.
Their job is to sell product, not make your decisions.

      • Was a joke, but ok bro.

  • Are there like no coles express in other states as well? There are about 4 in SA

  • +1

A few items worth buying in store.

20 pack of Quilton toilet paper $10
100 box of Lipton Tea $3.50
    Coles brand Milk
    Coles brand bread.

All the same price as Coles.

    • Stock is very limited in-store. The medium-sized one close-by never has any Coles brand Milk left and they don't sell bread. Never see any Lipton Tea box neither.

  • How about buying tattslotto tickets? They have standard pricing, no?

  • -1

Had no issue till I saw the terms exclude smokes, lotto, recharge cards and gift cards.

Suppose I could spend it on magazines, but who gets their porn on paper anymore!

    • Wouldn't be caught dead buying the first of those, don't buy the rest either…
