Mod: Thanks to daveaus who has informed us that the deal is available in store for EDR members, so activation of the offer (which many didn't receive) doesn't appear to be required, contrary to previous information.

Personal details are all over the link

    • Its all good, just my card number. Couldnt provide a valid link without using the email.

      • That activates the offer on your card.

        This is a targeted offer.

Negative, its an offer for all those who hold Everyday Awards!

Just like when you go to Woolies mate and see the dockets in orange that give you an additional discount.

Membership is free by the way, why don't you sign up so you too can take advantage of the affordable pricing?

        • i also got the same deals in my email

        • @cristobaljames: Yep! Can confirm that I didn't receive the email, didn't activate anything and the price dropped from $49 to $38 as soon as the guy scanned my Everyday Rewards card. Can also confirm that the offer was still available on Monday 10th November. Not sure how long it goes for though. ??

          Edit:
Just noticed and clicked on the BigW link up the top and the offer ends on Wednesday 19th November. Another 8 days to go.

        • I just get an error when I click activate my offers. :(

Yesterday the harvey norman $5 signup coupon wouldn't arrive then today this. Australian retailers are conspiring to stop me from getting a second chromecast.

    Targeted

  • Hmmm I don't get any of these emails from Big W. I only get the Woolies one advertising all their discounted junk food.

  • +1

$38 is the normal price now. Dick, COTD, Harvey and now BigW all selling at that 'special' pricing. Combined it with whatever voucher/discount code and you can easily get it around $35. JB is still selling that at $49 and thinking why no one buys from them :)

I'm more worried about what you're watching that you're so worried about them finding out about

      • Do you remember a time when people would scan their computer regularly for spyware? now you're just inviting it.

    • +1

no one is saying you should buy… take a chill pill

  • Wouldn't work for me. Logged into my Everyday Rewards account and then used the link here and clicked "Activate my offers" and it just came up with an error. Appears to be targeted…

      Available in-store only.

      • Don't you still need to activate the offer against your card to redeem in store?

This deak probably is Dick powered. BigW's owner Woolie sold Dick years ago. COTD deal also powered by Dick anyway. Make me think Dick most likely made mistakes ordered far too many Chromecast themselves.

I think by now, every HDMI ports of all my Tvs has had Chromecast plugged in!

Don't buy Chromecast. It's a piece of junk and I'm already on my 3rd replacement.

      Care to elaborate?

      • Crap sorry abhii, I meant to +1 your comment but I accidentally pressed neg. I can't change it stupidly.

Just to elaborate. I agree with your comment. Sorry I pressed the wrong button.

On a side note - why can't I change an accidental button press? Pretty stupid!

        • +1

You can, press the votes button under his comment then there is a button to remove the neg.

        • @daveaus: Thanks for that! Got it. I know for next time. (How obvious). Unfortunately I cannot revoke a neg after an hour apparently it just told me so I can't revoke it any more (what's with these stupid rules? - don't I get to decide what to do with my votes if I make a mistake or change my mind?)

Anyway I'll be more careful next time.

        • @Ramrunner:

          Revoked the vote for you.

      • It continuously stops working and never gets identified through the laptop.

  • $1 less than Dick Smith's $39, but still a deal I guess

  • I can confirm that this is a non targeted offer.
I never received the email but after hearing about it I went to my local BigW on the 10th Nov and asked the guy to swipe my Everyday Rewards card and sure enough the price came up as $38. Sweet!
Plus I earned some Rewards points by purchasing at BigW. Double sweet!

Tested out both the laptop and tablet, tested both Plex and Google Chrome and all work really well. There is a little bit of a lag between Chrome on the laptop to seeing it on the TV but that is normal, and that tiny lag is quite acceptable.

I checked HN, DSE and JBHIFI for a better deal and no one matched this offer. DSE may have had a similar offer but on 10th Nov when I checked it was $49.
I have an Apple TV 2nd gen which I no longer use but the Chromecast is going to get a lot of use. And at $38 (a saving of $11) it's a good bargain. Highly recommended!
