I bought that for $120!!! a few weeks ago, very nice drive. small quick.
My LG uses Hitachi drive.
My LG HDD uses a Western Digital Scorpio Blue anyway :)
Good deal, but the Mwave one looks better.
LG is Cheaper, but WD is better! And there are three colors available for WD other than the plain white only for the LG :)
Are these portable 2.5" drives powered by a usb 2.0 port or do they have a power brick like the 3.5" ones do?
2.5" drives are self powered through the USB port.
these WD portables have the USB port directly integrated to the harddisk PCB. ie. you cannot use it as a emergency laptop hdd replacement.
(I know coz i took one apart)regretted buying one of this… with integrated USB interface, one would expect it to be much cheaper than an OEM SATA 2.5" hdd,
Seems like a good deal to me. Need a 500gb one though, anyone seen any deals on these? (please don't mention the one in Homebush again, most of Australia doesn't live near there).
Go into OW and buy the Mac version of the WD 500gb drive @ $149 last time I checked, it's physically identical just Mac formatted, plug it into your system and format it as NTFS or FAT32 and Robert's ya farva's bruvva! ;)
Sure, it's not as cheap as these or the others mentioned, but it's a respectable price for somewhere you can probably get to if you really & truly need 500gb! ;)
It may also be noteworthy that WD is now showing a 640mb variant of these on their website, as well as 640gb, 750gb and 1tb Scorpio Blue internal 2.5" drives! :)

If you're going out to homebush area, mwave are having their open day sale, selling an LG 500GB Portable drive for $70 when you spend $50 or more. (otherwise the price is $90). If you're not worried about brands, this is a better deal.
