Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz $19.97 @ Vintage Cellars in-Store Possible Scanning Error

80

Vintage Cellars currently have Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz at $29.95 online and in store.

However when scanned it comes up as buy 2 get 1 free ON TOP OF THAT, so a carton of six is just under $120, effectively $19.97 a bottle.

This buy 2 get 1 free offer was running a few weeks ago when they had the not so good 2011 vintage but they've run out of that now and are selling the 2012. I think they forgot to cancel the first deal at the checkout when they dropped the price to $29.95, our win!

I don't need to tell you about the wine, those who drink it will know this is a sensational price.

I purchased from New Farm, Qld, but I'm guessing it's all stores.

  • Anybody else tried this out? I'd like to know if it is Australia-wide.

  • $29 each for me during checkout for a case of 6. $178

  • I suspect this is an error and will only be available instore. The 'buy 2, get 3rd free' were only specific bundles online (many of which have sold out), while instore still has a much wider range of the promo available. Sooo… haste ye to VC!!

  • The buy 2 get 1 free deal also applied to 389, 407, 128 and 138 from memory. Might be worth a try on those in the 2012 range too… buy 2 get 1 free on 389 would be a pretty sweet deal!

EDIT - buy 2 get 1 free on most things is a pretty sweet deal!

EDIT 2.0 - VC's price is cheaper than DM's on this too, even without the scanning error

    • Bought 6 at VC's Hunters Hill, NSW. You get an extra 10% off for 6 bottles or more!! Bloke in the shop said Bin 128 and RWT were also scanning at 3 for the price of 2.

Total of $118.76 ($19.79 per bottle)

  • did you leave me any at new farm?

    • there was 1 left, by the time I'd finished!

  • just checked the North Adelaide store…got quoted $32 / bottle if buying 6 which is higher than there online price.
If you can get them for $20 that is a sensational bargain!

    • Did they scan it though or just telling you this over the phone?
Their sign in store still might say $32 a bottle and possibly even 10% off for six or more (which brings it to $29.95) BUT when it scans up at the POS it still has the old deal of buy 2 get 1 free as well.

  • when it scans up at $32 and not $19, you do a runner
