      I buy directly from the US for about $4 a lens (monthlies) even with this deal they are still around $7 a lens. So shop around and you might get a better deal somewhere else. They are still making a fair amount of profit @ 50% off so think what they make at full price…

          Define "cost price".

          Are you talking manufacturing cost? or landed cost in Australia? Local logistics costs? how about marketing costs? customer service and sales rep. costs? or perhaps the cost for J&J Australia to purchase from Vistakon US or Ireland where the product is manufactured?
          You know J&J don't sell directly to the end customer? so the optometrist also has a margin and their own costs…

          It's easy to throw out the "cost price" number (which varies depending on the type of lens), but there's a lot of overhead between taking the silicone to make the lens to getting it in the patients eye.

          @Weezle: You have a Specsavers rep who you can ask about their cost price for J&J lenses and see if he/she wants to share with you. Sharing commercially sensitive information on a public forum would probably have me looking for a new source of income.

          All I will say is that I purchased a year's supply of Acuvue Oasys via this deal.

    The maximum sphere prescription available on the website for the Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism is +6.00. However, my prescription for one eye is actually beyond that. Is there any way of placing a custom order?

    Getting my prescription from Specsavers was annoying though (I only had my eyes tested there the other week). They wouldn't email it but were happy to fax it or read it out over the phone. Do people even use faxes still?

    Aw sweet, I only occasionally wear contacts so the 1 day pack I have are way out of date and an old script - optoms want me to try wearing contacts for a week before I get laser eye surgery. Perfect timing. Plus, can claim the whole lot back on private - so basically free.

      Yep. On my plan I could claim $25 per box normally. Since the ones I ordered with half price costs less than 25, I got the rebate value of the contacts only. Makes sense to me. Therefore I only paid for the delivery.
