Sandleford "Guard" Digital Safe $78.90 from Bunnings Warehouse (was $172.00)

60

Hi guys,

Firstly and most importantly I DO NOT WORK FOR BUNNINGS, I AM A REPRESENTATIVE FOR A DISTRIBUTOR.

Bunnings port kennedy, (may be nation-wide) have currently discounted the Sandleford Guard safe. It's original price was $172.00, but now currently $78.90. An absolute steal for a large safe.

The guard is NOT fireproof.

Details can be found here: http://www.bunnings.com.au/safe-digital-karbon-300x380x300mm…

And here:

If the store is out of stock, just head to the special orders desk (has a big blue banner above it) and get one special ordered. (Stock ex-east).

  • If anyone is interested I noticed this one yesterday on eBay, which is slightly bigger. it looks exactly the same as Barska's Biometric Safe based on the pictures. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VSAFE-Personal-Electronic-Biometr…

EDIT: eBay one also exists as Sandleford brand too but not biometric - http://sandleford.com.au/?portfolio=fort-safe
or there is a smaller biometric version

I reckon for a home safe (and considering this is sold at Bunnings, thats the target market), a fire proof safe is mandatory.

Considering the cost to replace a single lost or damaged passport (let alone all the families important docs), spending a little extra to protect those documents is worth it.

Plus, even if you store only a few thousand in it (emergency money), it would be terrible to have all your plastic money melt away in a fire.

any recommendation for a fire proof safe?

Most fireproof safes are rated for documents, not plastic or computer media. Paper doesn't burn that easily, but your thousands of notes (if they're Aussie, Kiwi or Canadian) will melt above 130 degrees C. According to Snopes anyway, seems legit: http://www.snopes.com/business/money/melting.asp
Paper starts auto igniting at ~230 degrees C.

So yes by all means get a fireproof safe for your OzBargain deal dollars, but make sure it's rated for keeping computer media safe rather than just paper. Otherwise this is a rather false economy and your OzBargain privileges will be auto-revoked.

I bought this to keep inside my fireproof safe.

An absolute steal for a large safe.

I see what you did there!

    • If those are the same ones that used to get sent to Bunnings, then they have a bad habit of the hinges breaking, as they only made of plastic. :(
