This is by far the cheapest deal for the Sunbeam 5.5L slow cooker (HP5520) I've seen. Online prices are between $69-$81 (excluding P&H).

    Similar, but you have a more control over the heat. A rice cooker will usually cook, then warm and that's it.

      I'd say the opposite actually. Good rice cookers especially the newer fuzzy logic ones from Asia are actually more versatile. Some rice cookers can act as slow cookers but not vice versa. They work on the same principals but i'd be inclined to get both because a rice cooker cannot be beat for cooking rice quickly but even the ones that "slow cook" often don't do so as evenly as a dedicated device. I have a sunbean 3.5 L. Be warned. I would expect that rating is correct and the 5.5litres would be more suitable for 8 people. you must fill the slow cooker at least halfway so you're looking at a lot of leftovers for less than 4 people.

    A slow cooker is a little bit more versatile than a rice cooker; rice can be cooked in one but it's probably not worth the effort since there are quicker and easier methods.

    Yes. Crock-pot is a brand name. Slow cooker is the generic name.
