Probably better if we all just order what we actually need, rather than the maximum on offer just because it's the maximum. I'm not suggesting for 1 moment that you don't have a wife and seven kids though :)

      • +16

I once met a man with 7 wives… i think I was travelling to St Ives.. though I dont think their sacks would need luggage tags

        • +26

I once met a man with 7 wives

A man with 7 wives has empty sacks.

      • +2

May be it's a family of four, travelling to US all the time. Two baggages each, eight tags. Lots of shopping for the relatives in ozbargain community…

        • +2

They should already have luggage tags I would imagine, more like it's a Broden jnr.

      • Married with Kids. Have you given a thought that you can also give them to your close relatives or friends!

        • +1

Tagging the kids too, now there's an idea. :)

  • Underrated travel accessory. Nothing worse than scrambling for a pen at the check-in counter so you can fill in the airlines' weak-arse paper ID tags…

    • +1

Yeah but one lasts a long time. I still have the KLM ones from that freebie. I don't know of any serious traveler who uses paper tags.

      • +4

        I do !
After having various quality tags ripped off I now resort to qantas paper tags.
Unlimited stack of them at qantas checkin.
Grab a stack for next time and thereafter, fill out at home when convenient, pack spares for additional legs.

        • Maybe you want a lower quality somewhat tacky tag then? ;)

    • Hundreds of flights to my name, never once had to do this.

      • You're a bit of a rebel hey Dav' ;o)

        • +2

Not at all, airline puts barcoded sticker on bag, barcode has all my details.
Tags have been torn off before, and the zip end they were attached to as they have hooked up somewhere along their travels, one that didn't tear off had a metal cable that screwed together, it tore off the handle it was attached to instead.

I have never had a sticker or my coloured ribbon go missing and have never lost a bag.

        • <deleted>

        • @Davros: And next time you get on a flight, something's gonna feel not quite right. Some hard-to-explain, nagging feeling you brush off… until you get to the carousel…

        • <deleted>

Trying to understand the ozbargain comment system. Maybe something has changed?

I replied to Davros but it is not indented under their post? Anyway, please ignore. :-)

        • @Davros:

Agree with this. Considering how hard those bar coded stickers are to get off even when you want them to I think the chance of them coming off by accident is pretty slim.

        • @Davros: I plussed your response Dav' ;o)

      • I've always written my home address and mobile number on a piece of paper INSIDE the bag, that way if the bag goes missing, it can be returned eventually.

        • I"ve got mixed feelings about that. What bothers me is that the 'bad guys' get your bag AND your address, then call up 'the boys' back home and they come 'round and 'clean out' your house while you are away and oblivious.

Thoughts? An alarm system would provide a good amount of piece of mind for starters hey!

  • +1

    Thankyou, I grabbed 2.

  • Thank u

  • Thanks OP!

  • +4

    Is this real?

    • +1

It's real in the sense that it's a 'real' good way for TA to obtain your email address and other particulars (if they don't have them already).

      • +3

As long as it's no phishing and it results in a luggage tag from TA, I'm fine with it. There's just something fishy looking about the actual site, that's all.

  • Have an upcoming trip soon. Hopefully these come through!

  • +2

If you see on of these tags on the luggage @ the airport, he/she most likely an ozbargain member ^_^.

  • -1

'permanent' tags are useful for the next destination. If going to the US with not very long connections, you need a new tag for each stop so that your luggage can catch up with you. Not only US of course.

    • +9

These tags are only useful for matching your luggage with you in the event they are misrouted. Or helping to differentiate your luggage on the carousel. Baggage routing is done by bar code bands and computers. You don't seriously think a baggage handler reads your tag to route your luggage do you?

      • To what my luggage :0

I think I'm going to need to start to wrapping my suitcases in protection if baggage handlers are going to try and root them.

        • +1

Why do you think they are called handlers? :)

  • +1

    nice work OP, thank you!

  • good price.

but the whole point of luggage tags are to identify your bag on the carousel!

Now other Ozbargainers are gonna be stealing my bags!

    • +1

Coloured ribbon works for me, imagine when everyone gets these nametags, how will you distinguish yours from the rest?

      • yes that was my point… I use coloured ribbons too though. they make my luggage look pretty :)

      • my bag isn't the same like others. how can I miss it

      • +3

Reminds me of when I was at Athens airport and picked up someone elses bag. It was the exact same Antler model duffel bag I had. Luckily I had to grab something out of the bag, which made me realise it wasnt mine. Otherwise I would have left the airport without realising.

    • +4

who wants to steal Ozbargainers' bags? We're all tightasses with not much to offer except eloops in my baggage. I don't even pack clothes for holdiays anymore. Only eloops.

I read it as luggage bags and got really excited. Thanks anyhow OP

  • +2

Does this make you get a free hotel upgrade since they are scared of your typing power?..

  • +1

got these off TA about 3 years ago because of the amount of reviews i do on there :)

if they're the same they're a nice rubbery material and very durable have travelled the world with them on the bag and never had an issue :)

  • +1

Giving this one a miss. For the price of a luggage tag I won't be giving my real name/address/contact details to a third party marketing website that is trying suspiciously hard to look like TA.

    • you don't have to give them any real info other than your address :)

  • +1

I dunno…seems like it is an Australian targeted campaign. Tried without /au and it comes up as invalid campaign. Strange how it's Australian targeted yet the form doesn't look Australian especially county and drop down being not preset to Australia.

    • +1

No mate. Looks like that deal was copied and pasted from here about 1hr ago. Check the timestamp at the bottom of the site vs posting time.

      • +1

who gives a **** anyway ….it's all about sharing the knowledge and stuff. :) you did post it first but why does anyone care.

  • Luggage tags? I'm so cheap I almost always carry on ;-) That way, luggage never needs tags. In Tokyo region for 6 weeks at the moment. If anything, I brought too much. Got the tags, just in case.

But Jetstar carry on has now reduced to 7kg :-( OK for summer clothes, but 10kg was good for winter or bringing a tent etc to Japan.

    • It's staying at 10kg to and from Japan.

      • Where to you see that?

You had me all excited there, beerpara. (Also my spell check substituted "underpants" for your name.)

DOMESTIC Jetstar Japan (Code GK) flights are the one exception to 7kg restriction.
Unless you have other information on Australia-Japan (Code JQ) flight carry on staying at 10kg? I'd love to keep my regular 10kg carry on on that route.

"The only exception to the rule is Jetstar Japan, where passengers on its all-economy flights can continue to bring 10kg of carry-on baggage: keeping it aligned with both Japan Airlines and All Nippon (ANA) which fly on a number of the same routes." http://www.ausbt.com.au/jetstar-slashes-carry-on-baggage-all…

"Jetstar's six-month trial of 'cabin baggage officers' will kick off at airports in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and the Gold Coast on Monday October 13.
These staff are tasked with weighing and measuring customers' bags, and will arrange to have bags checked in if they’re oversized or and/or too heavy to be taken into the cabin."
        http://www.ausbt.com.au/jetstar-cracks-down-on-carry-on-bagg…
They were checking excessive carry on bag size 2 weeks ago at Gold Coast. I saw a Japanese woman with bags of Aussie tea assisted in repackaging her large, but light carry on.

New Jetstar Economy 7kg carry on restriction from 25/11/14
$160 International/$50 Domestic fee if carry on is too heavy or too big!

        • Ah, sorry mate, you're right. It's Jetstar Japan that's keeping the 10kg. (Good for me as I need to use up a bunch of QANTAS points). Sorry to get your hopes up.

BTW, it seems like I'm not the only ozbargainer in Japan. We should start a global branch.

        • @beerpara:
          Banzai, NipponBargain!
          (JapanBargain is already taken)

First deal: Aussie Tim Tams ¥279 incl tax (au$2.75) at Shimadaya supermarkets, Tokyo. Slightly cheaper than at Kaldi Farm Coffee (free small coffee at entrance), and much cheaper than Plaza stores. Both those other stores can be found in big cities outside Tokyo.

Guessed that was what you saw - Jetstar Japan. No worries! Clarified so no one would make a mistake & cop extra fees.

I bought when it was 10kg, so have enough room to take a few kimono/yukata on return journey.
Last time I wore some beautiful old ¥400 ones on the plane to save weight. This trip I have been given a stack free.

  • Ordered 8, thanks OP.

  • I only used initials, PO Box, fake email and mobile for this. Looks a tad sketchy.

    • whats the point in ordering if its going to be printed with a fake email and mobile number?!?

      • My luggage tags have an option to add a 6x4cm paper where you write your own details. I assumed they were sending out just the plastic luggage tag with the paper input option.

      • +1

I doubt they'll print anything on it. It will be a blank tag

  • They had a similar campaign last year… Received them months later… Sent by Sea Mail

    • +1

So they'll ship it in a container labelled "OzBargainers"?

  • I got two from them last time as well. Came in pretty handy. But I agree with what most people are saying about colored ribbon system. I bought a six pack of colored tapes from kmart for a couple of dollars and use different color combinations to identify my luggage on the carrousel.

  • bag identification: kids + paint = unique luggage

  • +1

It seems ok, but after I put my name, mobi number and address there, there is no questions to ask, feel like the spam page to collect the personally information.

I checked the domain name: tripadvisorgifts.com not belong to Trip Advisor, it has been registered early this year and belong to the company called "Kirkwood Direct", here is their website: http://www.kirkwooddirect.com/

    Ummm….

    • oh wells they got my details - love spam lol

  • +4

    Your URL[http://tripadvisorgifts.com] is invalid.

  • Free luggage tags from KLM… http://sg.luggagetags.klm.com

    • Only for people in Singapore?

      • Well it let me put my address in, I live in Victoria, Australia Singapore now. Haha

  • +1

I got my TAG today so definitely not a scam BUT I had asked for 8 and only got 1. Serves me right for being greedy.

    • I ordered 4 so as not to appear greedy and still only got 1, so don't feel too bad.

    • You did use different addresses, didn't you.

I find adding 1/, 2/, etc in front of house number works well, but of no use to apartment dwellers. Computer thinks it is a different address & Postie still delivers. Also useful to identify all the OB freebies.

I only ordered 1 as I use carry on to save time & money, so don't use tags. But it was free ;-)

  • +2

    Got mine too. Ugly as…

  • I totally forgot about this until I saw it at my doorstep this evening. I might not actually using this with that big green Tripadvisor logo :)

  • I got mine today, but I ordered three and only received one.

  • I received an empty envelope !!!

    • Put out an alert on a dog trying to go on holiday with a Tripadvisor tag. :)

  • Got mine today totally forgot about it

  • Received mine today. I think I ordered 3 - received 1. Totally forgot about it.

    • Same here, asked for 3 only got 1.

  • Yep got only 1 myself… as well can't complain it seems nice and thick so.. good quality.. better than not getting anything at all :)

  • Got mine today! The tag itself is pretty hard and durable

  • finaly got mine today. only 1, ordered 2 :( lol.

  • Got just the 1 today, not sure how many I ordered but it was definitely more than 1.

Oh well at least I got something

  • received mine today also

  • cant work out how to attach the tag?
