The best deal they could give is to start paying their taxes like a good corporate citizen

Puerile stuff. The "mugs" at least understand that you don't get infrastructure, services, judicial systems - in short a functional enterprising democratic society - unless people and companies pay their fair share of tax. Do some reading on the complex, expensive and clearly unethical arrangements particular multinational companies such as IKEA enter into in order to avoid tax. Note the word AVOID, not legitimately minimise while still paying their way. We're all bearing the cost but moreso their direct competitors who actually contribute to govt revenues at the average (low) corporate tax rate for their industries. It will take decades for these companies to be brought to book, meantime the only options we have are to avoid using their services or buying their products, or as a minimum make sure their slimy business practices are well known by consumers.
