Where to get replacement TV remote - original is dead, so won't teach a learner

Well I never thought I'd need to replace the remote before the TV itself.
It's been a good tele from COTD bought years ago and still going strong.

Model Daijitsu (Samsui) LCD42HWA

I found a few websites that sell smart remotes that you press "set" until the TV reacts and then it's ready to take control of the TV.
No guarantee it will work on my model but can be returned. Approx $25 through PayPal.. I've sent a message with the model number asking if it will work with my TV.

Anyone aware of a reliable source for this particular TV ?

Your TV is compatible with harmony remotes… And they are very good devices.

+1 Best universals you can buy.

    • Thanks Battler - I always thought you had to put original head to head with Harmony. Didn't realize they're pre-programmed.

Off to search Ozbargain for best deal - DSE perhaps.

  • This might work for you. Take the batteries out of the remote then slowly press each button from top to bottom right to left until you have pressed them all. Somehow this fixes some remotes. I didn't believe the guy that told me until it fixed mine.

    • Thanks Jay - I don't believe you either - but I'll tell junior and if it works, I'll be a supehero - if not, "just kidding"

Perhaps putting it in the microwave may work - or is that for iphones only ?

      • I am serious. This does work. I am not having a lend of you.

  • Got the 650 from OW $45 - now GG has it on sale !!
