  • Unfortunately, it's an OPTICAL mouse… not laser…

COTD should be removed from this site. When there are good bargains to be had the COTD webserver falls down leaving customers frustrated. Then COTD do the same promotions that took the entire site down in the first place only to have a repeat of frustrated customers.

    • -3

Agreed they have their own website anyway, i prefer to see actual bargains here not just advertising.

Almost turning into lasoo.com.au (not advertising)

i prefer to see actual bargains here

Cheaper than cheapest on staticICE, especially when shipping is considered.

I wouldn't buy it (because it's wireless and optical), but I can see how it might be considered a bargain for some.

they have their own website anyway

Indeed, but I find that OzBargain is a great place to discuss potential catches with other bargain hunters.

    • -1

      Agree.
Im sure that most people on here look at COTD every day, so its not needed to be posted every day

      • +5

Because not everyone new to OzBargain has heard of CotD? Because not everyone looks at every daily-deal site everyday? I use OzBargain to point out the great bargains for me.

Sure, the “Pressure Cooker” and other such events infuriate many here because they don’t manage to get the deal they wanted, but that’s little different from driving to / lining up at a store for hours to find the guy before you bought the last item, a la Aldi and five TVs in stock per store…

    • -2

Agreed they manipulate free advertising/ forums all over the place.
I refuse to buy anything from them!

Ban them and their little dog too!

  • +1

    Agreed.

Can we actually have a vote on this issue?

    • Now that sounds like a good idea

  • +1

Also, make sure you add postage for COTD deals..

  • -3

seriously not everything on COTD is a bargain
    Agreed, Ban COTD from Ozbargain

    • +5

      Way to generalise!
Not everything on OzBargain/Officeworks/Tiger Airways/Aldi/Myer/JB/BigW/Coles/Rivers/GAME is a bargain. Ban them all?

    • +3

Ozblogger, have you ever look at the top deals here?

  • +6

Theres no way that COTD should be banned considering that even this week theres one of their deals in the top 5. Isn't this what the whole voting system is about? Voting a bargain up or down on its merits? Yes, the pressure cooker sale was stupid, but the Ozbargain voting system worked and it wasn't on the front page for long. All that being said, I still think we should be able to optionally block individual stores.

I don't check all the different sites (jetstar, tiger, cotd, zazz etc etc) everyday as that would be time-consuming. Only found out the 500Gb 2.5 HDD from OzBargain.

If you don't like a deal, vote it down. People wading through new deals understand that we only get the occasional exceptional deals. If you don't have time for that, then look at popular deals.

If your opinion is that the COTD site is too slow, then don't take notice of their deals. If your opinion is that this site drives the traffic and hence is preventing you from getting a deal, then tough luck!

It would be a pitty to have a blanket ban.

Edit: Although, maybe we could have a feature in the settings to disable certain merchant / categories / tags. That could resolve some of the complainants.

Some great ideas so far i think

  • So is it a good buy? :|

I don't like COTD stuff here everyday as some of it isn't really a bargain.

  • -1

I say ban them just to reduce their awareness from Ozbargain. They are good are generating false hype (i.e. during the pressure cooker)and why we are awarding them further by providing them a space to advertise here in Ozbargain?

I agree they have some good deals at times but their dodgy promotions shouldn't go unpunished. We consumers have to stand up against company like this. Maybe they will learn in the future.

    • +1

A significant number of negative votes is more effective "punishment". Actually, if they're to be punished for anything, it's that spam-a-thon campaign they held a few months back, with the headphones as payment.

  • genuinely good deals on COTD (much less) < fake bargains on COTD

  • Doesn't the neg and pos vote answers the whole problem?? Stop whinging and put on your pants gents!!!! :)

    • well they are even atm

      • +1

Those who are voting positive do so for the product. I don't quite care for it myself (see my post above) thus my lack of vote.

Those who are voting negative do so out of spite for CotD. There is yet to be any disparaging remark regarding the product itself, nor any relevant to the service, as relates to this product, being provided by CotD.

    • who wears pants, i stopped fitting into those about 200 pounds ago lol (reaches for the grab stick and moo moo)

why are people whining so much about COTD? sounds like a bunch who couldn't get what they want during the pressure cooker… from a marketing perspective, COTD's Pressure Cooker sales (and similar) are marketing gold. not one person here can forget that - and that's enough to have COTD, as a business, burned into their brains forever - genius.

Anyway, I thought Ozbargain was about listing bargains, then voting on whether that item is a bargain or not - not if the company behind it advertises in a certain way, or if your 1 bad experience has made you sour… stop generalising. I've bought plenty of items from COTD and haven't had a hiccup - yes i've even received a faulty item but that has since been returned and resent.

As for THIS deal, it's better then 95% of other websites for the same item… http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=logitech+v2…
So how is it a bad deal for people to give it -ve?

    • +1

Agreed with you mostly except I don't really think its marketing gold if it just leaves a sour taste in everyones mouths and leaves them frustrated and unhappy (as seen from many other people's posts above)

      • +1

true… maybe not gold, but silver, lol. i'm just trying to say that whether they had 5 Wii's for sale or 100 at half price, it would obviously cause website meltdown due to demand… it's still a great buy for whoever bought it. Unfortunately, this type of business isn't about being fair… it's about selling and again unfortunately, they can't cater for EVERYONE… true? If a department store was selling the Wii at the same price, they'd still only have X amount, and once that's gone, the guy who comes late loses… I used to work at one of these places and saw this happen MANY times, ppl lining up at 9am for a cheap buy, then the guy who comes in at 6pm after work wonders how they can sell out in the first day. Supply & demand, it's normal… and a business can only stock a certain amount.

Anyway… i just want people to keep an open mind and not burn COTD and THIS deal just because of their business strategies - it's quite smart in my opinion. I won't talk anymore. :P

  • now fluidtek will sell v220 for $14.95 this friday.
