Budget Hotel in Tokyo?

Hi guys, I had just made use of the jetstar promotion and booked 5 tickets to Tokyo from 26th OCT to 3rd NOV 2009, I was wondering if anyone have any advice on finding cheap accomodation there, we don't mind sharing a dorm style apartment if that would be cheap. Or any hotel would be fine. We are looking at around $60~80 per pax per night, either be it a shared room or we also don't mind a 2 rooms which accomodates 2 and 3 respectivly.

Thanks in advance.

  • If you're feeling adventurous, try a night in their Capsule Hotels - http://www.capsuleinn.com/
Shared facilities, men and women on different floors. Even that's about A$50 per pax already though.

Tried a night for fun. Was OK but recommend ear plugs as walls are thin :-)

  • Thanks for the advice, but I don't think that would be a good idea as we have girls in the group. Furthermore, if we stay in a capsule hotel, we will have to carry our bagguage everywhere we go in the day time..

  • i stayed a great place that lonley planet reccomend…i think name is joyhu hotel in minama senju.

minama senju is where all the cheap hotels are and lot of backpackers and students stay there.

check out hostelbookers.com mate went couple months ago and got good cheap accomdation from that site.

  • look on sites like hotelclub.com.au they have hotels for around $80 per night at that time .i used them for my last 5 bookings and seem to have good prices
but still pays to shop around

  • Thanks guys, I found a couple of nice hotel from those sites, my friends wants to stay around shinjiku area, and we manage to find one with 5 rooms, just gonna confirm with them today =D

  • For future reference or for other travellers, I found the Shinjuku Washington Hotel to have quite decent prices. Not the best of hotels of course, but the location was great and the price was among the cheapest unless you wanted capsule or dorm at the time I went there (July '09)

  • When I went about 4 years ago, we had a group of 6 and we booked a 3 bedroom apartment for a week. If you don't mind sharing the bathroom, it's a bit cheaper and you get a lot more space and a kitchen.

  • we would't mind that actually, could you give me more info on how to find apartments for short term rental?

  • dont ever try sakura hotels….they're sucks

goto k's house…they're pretty good, feels like home, if you dont mind sharing the bathroom.

  • We stayed a the Sunshine City Prince Hotel. Conveniently located, reasonably priced and came with an awesome buffet breakfast.

If you're in Osaka, stay at the Flexstay Shinsaibashi Inn. Fabulous location, cheap, cheap rooms and lovely staff. Plus there's a Mos Burger practically next door.
