    Is soccer that expensive??
I just renewed my footy membership- The junior was $70 for an 11 game reserved seat

      Soccer: $60 for 8 games = $7.50 per game
      'Footy': $70 for 11 games = $6.30 per game

Oh no! I've got to pay an extra $1.20 to watch the Glory.

This is the special offer pricing for soccer, not the regular pricing.

I notice you don't consider it a bargain either.

    • I just renewed my footy membership-

What's footy? Every state (or region) seems to have the same nickname for their different oval ball sport (i.e. Rugby League, Rugby Union, Aussie Rules are all called "footy" by their fans in various states).

It always seems to be a topic of confusion amongst people who are not following the same sport (they are sports not "codes").

Not a bad deal "IF" your able to get to every game

I went to the GLORY v WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS at NIB a few weeks ago, myself + 2 kids via Ticket Master cost me $67

Hadn't been to NIB in years, new grand stand is awesome, biggest negative of the night was public transport, they need to build these major event locations next to train stations & multi-story parking, after the game we cattle walked it to the closest station, waited 25min, squeezed our way through the doors like cattle, got into Perth Station to change for the Mandurah line and had to wait another 45min, by that late time the early drunk idiots were about carrying on in front of the kids, be much easier in the car but there's FA parking around NIB

    • NIB isn't that far from the station but maybe its a little different for little ones esp if the timing sucks for connecting trains, at least Sydney seems to provide a steady flow from ANZ stadium (can't say the same for Allianz in Sydney but at least buses are okay) - I'm assuming public transport is still included with tickets for Glory games? This was a totally different story when I moved to Sydney, I found it odd that public transport wasn't always included with sporting events.

Pretty good pricing, though I would have liked to have seen better AWAY SUPPORT packages; Wanderers have a pretty good structure.

      • I'm ex Sydney (Shire Boy), much better public transport

No free transport at all for the game, no buses too/from Perth/NIB

Only cost me ~$11 for a family ticket to get us up & back, cheaper than running the car

When we went up we walked from Perth station through Northbridge, grabbed some Macca's for them on the way, wasn't keen to walk the kids back through there after the game though (late on a Sat night), not overly familiar with Perth City I had no idea where I was so followed everyone else to Claisebrook, near on 2hours to get home, only take 45min in the car

        • Members get free transport for some reason but not cash tickets.

Well done to the Glory for at least getting it right on the pitch this year. They probably can't do much about WA public transport

No they can't, they've already got issues with PTA

Anyone know if PG will be relocating out to the new Barnett $tadium at Burswood?

Be great if Subbi could take them (& others) on rather than pulling it down, train station next door etc

      • Can't imagine they would. The Glory draw what? 10-15,000? Surely that new stadium would be way too big. Even Subiaco would only be a third full. Moreover, soccer played on ovals (where the crowd is quite removed from the action) doesn't make for great atmosphere.

All that being said, I live on the other side of the country and don't support the Glory - so I don't especially care what they do. Except to say that quarter-full stadia in any sport tend to make for eyesores on television.

      • Why would they want to move to Subiaco?! It's old, run down and oval!

NiB is a rectangle ground. Why the hell would they want to go back to an oval? I would hate having to sit so far from the actual pitch.

        • Yes it is too big for the crowds they pull, currently, however soccer interest is growing rapidly over here, not only due to PG's recent results, there's new people moving to WA everyday passionate for the round ball.

Apart from cricket (snore) what other outdoor ball sport do we really get behind during summer (I think we have a baseball team), one of the reasons soccer moved to summer (it used to try and compete against AFL/NRL during winter).

Its less physical nature and bad media compared to ALF/NRL = mum's would rather their kids be interested in it, play it.
I'm not 50 yet but my body is stuffed from playing competitive NRL & WAFL, I'd rather encourage my boys with soccer

Yes Subi is old, however its in a great location with the train next door, as with other stadiums previous in could be modified into a rectangle, look what they did with the stand setup at Olympic Stadium (ANZ) it could be modified to make it rectangle or both so local WAFL clubs and semi-professional/amateurs could use it during winter.

Crowds will increase, at some point down the track PG will grow out of NIB, what happens then?

    Sounds perthfect!

Get on it Perth people. Support the a league :)

  • There's a Buy one get one free voucher in the Entertainment Book. Collect them from people that don't use them. Works out cheaper than this deal if you don't go that often and go with someone else.

If you're trying to get new members, you should do something like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/173998

I would like to go to one game to see what its like (getting to and from venue, atmosphere etc).

This is a great price for those who have already been and enjoyed, to convince them to go to more.
