  • I frequently buy manga - these guys are about 50% more expensive than Book depository - and they don't charge shipping. If you can wait the week or so to get it, they are far better value.

    • Book Depository hasn't been the cheapest recently because of the exchange rate.

I usually would use them however they don't stock Aussie Textbooks

      • I've bought some of my Aussie textbooks from book depository in the last few weeks, about 50% less too, saved approx $120 on just one of my textbooks

        • Out of interest what were they?

I can't find any of the HSC Maths books on BookDepository. In the past I found some language books though.

        • @blighst:
sometimes they can have a slightly different ISBN but have the exact same description, title & image and are the same textbook or book pack.
All the medical, nursing, midwifery, calculations, communications, education etc books that I have needed so far, as well as study guides, I have been able to find on book depository. Most have been published by Pearson though so I'm not sure if that is why?
And their customer service so far has been above and beyond any other online book store that I have purchased from previously.

        • No getting away from it I love BookDepository. I wrote to BookWorld and they sent me a free shipping coupon which was nice though.

Last time I had an issue with BookDepository (my book was printed weirdly) they sent out another no evidence required. Just can't justify spending more there when I can get it quicker and cheaper in Australia.

  • Voucher code is not valid…

OP could you check the code for error.

    • I transcribed it off a text from my mate so I'll recheck once my phone charges.

      • This type of code is usually unique so it might have already been used by someone else. Also, are you sure this code is not for January 2015?

        • It was supposed to be for January 2015 but I've used it and so has the person who sent it to me and a few others. Mod delete this though until we can verify.

        • @blighst:

Thanks for the heads up that the code are working now. I did not bother testing the codes I received recently as I did not expect to be able to use them.

        • @thangcuoi:

It looks like the January 2015 has stopped working. I added one of my own code to my cart this morning. Came back to it in the afternoon and met with a pop-up saying the code has been used.

  • You also need to reread your title.

Always use booko.com.au to compare prices!

  • OP if you're using it for textbooks might I assume you're a student?
If so you might be eligible for the student edge card which has a bookworld deal 7.5% off plus free delivery:
    https://studentedge.com.au/deals/details/558

    • Crap just bought them. I have a Student Edge card. Hopefully you can't stack coupons :)

    • I don't think it's free delivery anymore. It seems the code is just for 7.5% off now.

  • With Amazon free shipping AMEX deal, it's become the best place to buy books for me. In fact, the only place to buy books. Only thing that put it behind a place like depository or BW was the free shipping. Now that that's gone, there's no reason for me to buy anything from BW again.

    • Won't you get charge extra for exchange fees (around 2%)?

      • Yes. But the base prices are always cheaper.

BW has a price guarantee where they will beat or match Amazon, but it's not easy to claim. Sounds like a real hassle, may as well just get it straight from amazon.

Back when the shipping was free, it was rarely cheaper to buy from BW than it was to buy from Amazon + $5 shipping + 2-3% exchange fee.

        • Textbooks are always hard to find because the publishers are in league with the universities.

As for crappy dollar, for some perspective, after GFC we dropped to the 60s, maybe even lower. About 13, 14 years ago, it dropped below 50c.

If it stayed in the low 80s for the rest of my life never going down but never going up either, I would gladly take it.

    • I can't find Aussie Textbooks on Amazon. Also the exchange rate is currently crap for Australian buyers.

That's disappointing about the delivery fee, I did buy from there if they were a few bucks more than the book depository but I won't now. $5.50 delivery is enough to price it out of the competition.

It's probably already been mentioned but Booktopia has free shipping if you navigate to the page from Booko.com.au.

    • Yes, but Booktopia coupon don't stack.

It sucks that there are not many good deals going around now.

  • I get error "Voucher is Only valid for certain users" but I don't have an account, so may be for existing accounts.
Also Booko are still showing them as free shipping, ISBNs.net is showing the right price.

If a Bookworld rep is reading this, please consider setting a minimum order amount that qualify for free postage. eg: $50.

I'm looking at buying 3 books from Bookworld at the moment. With the 10% code, they came to be around $63, saved about $6. Your shipping charges reduce the saving to $1. Why would I go through all the troubles of finding and using the discount to save $1? I might as well buy from someone else who is always cheaper than you (without the code).
