saving money for that sexy grey ps4 console :P

    • +1

omg, how good does it look? i hope they mass produce the controller at least.

have you installed the 20th anniversary theme?

    • +1

      Where can we buy it?

      • They haven't said yet. With a limited run of 12,300, the most likely place will be eBay for three times the price of a normal PS4. :(

      • they'll sell quick. As another OZBargainer has noted they haven't announced how they'll sell here in Oz

  • -7

i'll celebrate this day by installing PS2 emulator >.<

    • +6

      good for you, buddy

      • -4

        cheers, i got the ps2 and ps3.
always wanted to try the emulator on my new computer for convenience.

        • +1

not sure whats up with all the downvotes.

its perfectly legal to use emulators.

as long as you upload your own PS2 bios from your own software.

and play from your PS2 discs you purchase.

          which i both have.

        • @MagicTsukai:
yeah kind of sad. I bet they are the same people who would downvote you if you said I'm going to install a SNES or GBA emulator. If you know your copyright history, you know that these are just temporary printing monopolies that originally (and should) last 14 years. Meaning many PS2 games would Already be falling back into the public domain right about now.

        • @Kanasuke:

Cheers Kanasuke, for the help :)

    • -2

technically the PS3 runs a PS2 emulator when it runs the games, so you should specify if you mean an illegal unlicensed emulator and not the one included in a firmware update for the PS3.

      • -2

early releases of the PS3 can run the emulator.
they are very slow and you're better off playing the original ps2.
I recall playing tekken 5 and experiencing 1 second delays between attacks after pressing buttons.

        • Actually there are lots of digital PS2 games to download on the PS Store. They can be played on any PS3.

        • @Where's_That_Cake:

oh yea, i forgot about that.

i was referring to playing disc games.

          also Emulator is working fine.

i tried my kingdom hearts 1 disc in my comp and it works, took awhile to set up though :)

          use PSXC if you're interested.

  • Bunch of boring classics

    • +2

and so are the games. boom-tish!

    • Yeah, GTA V is so old now :/

  • +2

Looks like it's a good time to buy a PSone, so many cheap games!

    • +1

Still got my original in the desk draw and with the 99 page memory card. I have some of these already but wouldn't mind getting them on the ps3 for some quick action.

my TV hates the master system when I play Alex kid

  • Thanks

Got tekken, wipeout, driver and twisted metal for $10.30

PSone classics are awesome in the pstv

  • +1

Spyro Trilogy will be good on PS TV. Shame about the memory card costs though

  • +2

GOT MGS HD collection for $15 for PS3, happy with it

In 2014, the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition listed "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection" as the highest rated HD video game compilation.

    • Just wait til they do a HD remake of the Halo games. Oh wait

  • Thinking of picking up Sly Trilogy on Vita - will check out some gameplay vids first but seems to review well on some sites.

Have never played the Metal Gear Solid trilogy on Vita either - wondering if that's worth a pickup too - although could be too stealthy!

  • Would hate to live in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or UAE. Also, they can't play GTA!

  • +1

Finally GTA Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories are on sale in AU.

Last time I looked these up it showed $2.49 / $4.99 as the price, I topped up my account and then the price shot up to $14.95 each. Apparently they were giving me US pricing with no way to tell until checkout; and you have to top up your account with money even before you get to the checkout.

Support were absolutely useless and would not adhere to Australian Consumer Law. No refunds, false advertising/not as described.

Can't do a chargeback or they will ban your whole PSN account (and I have other games/progress/DLC on there)

I would not recommend the Sony ecosystem at all. Even Steam Support have given me a better result with refunds, and they have a notoriously bad reputation.

At least I could finally buy these games using the funds in my PSN wallet that they already stole from me without having to spend more.

My advice is just to be extra careful with Sony that they are giving you the correct region by default by checking the URL itself manually and don't expect any support at all.

But excellent that GTA VCS & LCS are on sale, given they are Sony exclusives.

    • +1

Yeah I've had a bad experience with sony customer service too. It was only over $10, but I'm still mad about it 6 months later haha.

      • Yeah, they are assholes. I will be complaining with the ACCC once my GTA V progress has safely been transferred to PC. Perhaps a few ACCC complaints will make them include Sony in their investigation against Steam not adhering to ACL.

        • why didn't you just buy them on the US store?

        • I would have if I had known I was even looking at the US store. There was no clear indication. I had already topped up my PSN wallet before I realised.

    • +1

      That's really poor

    • -1

Sorry but you were obviously not signed into the correct store. You must have been browsing the US store and then logged in which took you to the correct store. This is not their fault at all.

      • -3

Well you are correct on the first part that I was browsing the US store and then logged in which took me to the 'correct' (AU) store, but you are wrong on the second part where it is not their fault because it was a Link on the AU site that lead me to the US store without being knowing and not confirmation of which store I was looking at other than picking apart the URI itself to say "en-us" which as far as I knew could have been just a language code.

    • +1

I have a lot of sympathy but they may not have broken the law. Your situation is similar to buying gift cards. You don't become eligible for refunds unless the gift card is faulty or not as described. You still have the credit to spend on something else at the PSN store.

I can see why they wouldn't refund credit. It is possible to get it purchased at discount and that would open up big problems if they were refunding more than was used to purchase the credit. Still, it would have been a good gesture for them to refund you.

      • -2

Well that was their excuse that I still "have the credit", but I purchased with credit card through their website not from a store so full price was easily verified. They don't allow you to purchase items directly, you MUST top up the account in increments of $10.00, so the top up was for the explicit purpose of purchasing the item. If I could not purchase the item at the advertised price then the pre-paid top up was not fit for the purpose. Yeah Sony don't know "good gestures" they only know "money grab".

    • -1

Also in regards if your statement "Apparently they were giving me US pricing with no way to tell until checkout" there was a very easy way, the URL you were on would have said US and not AU. You seem to know a lot about consumer rights but very little about using the internet. Nothing wrong with that, just making an observation and I do agree about Sony's customer service, though they are good in my experience I don't agree with their hard line on no refunds.

      • -1

I know more than you so don't attempt to belittle me. en-us could easily be a language code.

        • -1

Belittle you? Know more than me? I'm just going by what I've seen here. Was this your first time using the PS store then I take it? There are a lot of other giveaways as to which site you're on. Whiny ignormous much?

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Well I ought to know more than you about it considering I was the one who had it happen to me. It was my first time using it through the web browser. After this sale, the last. I am done with Sony. I will whine as much as I like thank you very much.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Here is the exact sequence of events as you are so interested:

          http://imgur.com/a/GXMo5

        • +1

@The Land of Smeg: No offence Smeg, but pretty much every one of those screen either show SCEA or Sony Computer Entertainment America as the publisher just under the game title. I figure that you're new to PlayStation? I know you're not going to shop with them again and I don't care (neither should anyone, its not our business to) but at the end of the day its your word against theirs that you clicked on a link that took you to the wrong store. Its just as likely that you looked at the wrong blog site (the US one) and thought it was the AU blog, clicked the link and off to the US store with you. Anyway, I apologize for calling you a whiner. It was uncalled for and I originally intended on playing devils advocate.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Mate, how exactly am I supposed to know Sony's company structure when I try and make a purchase with them? How am I supposed to know what SCEA is supposed to mean or that it's not Sony Computer Entertainment Australia?

        • +1

@The Land of Smeg: Well tbf as long as I've been a PS customer I've been aware of three different PS divisions. SCEA, SCEE and SCEJ. Though as I said previously, some of those pages you screen capped actually show Sony Computer Entertainment America as the publisher (the supplier so to speak) To me that's a big tip off. Obviously not to all though, oh and BTW, we (Australia) fall under the European branch of Sony Computer Entertainment. I may be wrong but it sounds like you're a long time Steam user just touring the PlayStation scene.

        • Sorry I have not been to Playstation school to know all this. I expect to pay a set price in exchange for goods or services.
If I was on the wrong store, why did that store accept my money and give it to another store? It's not like I opened a new window on playstation.com.au to top off the account and come back, I was just following the links of the same website. It was not Europe because it took my money in AUD and this sale is in the Australian Store. A company structure should not be of concern to the customer anyway, just like it shouldn't matter whether you go to a Auspost/Telstra owned store or a Auspost/Telstra franchised store the experience should be the same. They are all under a common brand and are related entities, so using their company entity structure should not be a shield to hide behind.

@The Land of Smeg: Sorry but you just don't understand. The moment you enter your details in the login page you are taken from the wrong site you were on to the correct site (the one you signed your account up to) So you were looking at the US and the moment you logged in you were taken to the AU equivalent. You seem to be treating it like a conspiracy against you when it's just a case of you not understanding the difference in store locations. Anyway, this is going nowhere, Sony aren't paying me for explaining this and you're getting a bit angsty so good luck with your ACCC claim, I think you'll be wasting your time personally though.

@The Land of Smeg: By using google you circumvented the region selection page. As soon as you logged in with your Australian PSN account it would have redirected you to the Australian PSN store, which is normal practice for most websites. If you had then checked the price it would show it as being the correct (Australian) price. No, the US Playstation website does not have a giant USA flag in the corner, but neither does any other international web store. Moral of the story, when purchasing from any webstore, log into your account and then re-check the prices otherwise you will make this same oversight MANY times.

        • @CyberGenesys: No, that's totally wrong. You can't redirect users between inter-related web stores automatically and without notification and then claim that you bought from the wrong store.

It's like going into Kmart to buy a toaster for $10 and at the checkout they say "sorry you have to buy this toaster using gift cards, minimum Kmart $20 gift card".

So you ask to buy the Kmart $20 gift card and they put payment through and then they say "Oh actually we noticed that you are already a Target customer when you paid for that gift card, so gave you a $20 Target gift card instead. We don't sell Kmart gift cards to people who are already Target customers".

So you try to use the $20 Target gift card to buy the $10 Kmart Toaster and they say "We don't accept Target gift cards for Kmart toasters, but you can get a Target toaster for $50.

So you say "I want to refund my Target gift card then if I can't use it for the $10 Kmart toaster I want".

"No sorry, gift cards are not refundable, you still have your $20 Target gift card don't you which you are free to use! So we don't owe you anything! We are Target, if you have a problem you should go to Kmart!"

"But I thought I was in Kmart? No, once I found out that you are already a Target customer, I took off my Kmart uniform and put on my Target uniform so now you are dealing with Target. Didn't you notice?? It is your fault"

And now luckily Target has had a sale on Toasters that are not as cheap as Kmart toasters but acceptably cheap enough, I got my toaster but it is no excuse for how I was treated with the bait and switch.

I have never had a problem with any other online retailer. Regions and Currency is always clear.

I used the Australian Google Search engine to find the game and in my correspondence with Playstation they even suggest using search engines to find information.

Here is an example of one of the emails I received from them:

Thank you for your recent email.

Terms of service can be found here:

          http://legaldoc.dl.playstation.net/ps3-eula/psn/e/e_tosua_en…

Alternatively if the link does not work you can find the terms of service for playstation by performing an internet search or by searching on the playstation website.

          Regards,

          PlayStation Support Centre

@The Land of Smeg: @The Land of Smeg: ughhhh… I think I (maybe others too) have no idea what you are talking about any more.

Correct me if I am wrong; they advertise a price for US, you look at the price and assume it is for Australia/the world. Based on that you add money to your Australian account and attempt to buy only to discover the price was not applicable to you. Now you want that money refunded because they didn't make it obvious that the prices where in USD. It wasn't obviously AUD either, yet you assumed it was.

I'm sorry, but the first thing that comes to mind is "have you never bought anything online before?". Unless a website ends in .au it's a pretty safe bet that the prices are in USD.

Did you know, this whole problem wouldn't have arisen if you had simply pressed 'add to basket' instead of going in a round about way of adding funds to your wallet.

          Despite the above putting the blame entirely on you I do agree with some of what you are saying;
          - regional prices need to burn in hell, geographical location affects the price of a digital commodity? My arse it cost $40 extra for them to 'digitally distribute' a game to Australia
          - Non refundable gift cards (including wallets) just seems wrong. It's like giving money to somebody and then asking for it back and they'll only say yes if you promise to give it back to them.

        • They advertised $2.49 [USD], and I am happy to accept that it was USD, so when I stay on the same website I expect the top up to also be USD (or Belize) or whatever. I don't care if it ends in .com or .com.au USD and AUD are both acceptable to me.

I'm sorry if I didn't use the "right" workflow, I used the workflow that came to my head at the time.

This is like shopping in India as an Australian, and a shopkeeper says you have to pay in US Dollars because you are not Indian, so you pay in US Dollars and then they say that you can't have the item after you already paid in US Dollars (no refunds) because you have to use Rupees. But Sir you can buy one of these [overpriced items over $20 USD] with your $20 US Dollars you already paid any time within a year!

  • Crash Bandicoot link doesn't seem to work? Still showing as 5.99$?

Any chance of the copy/paste WALLOFTEXT (and kuwait qatar etc being removed) being edited?

Doesn't both me. Still easy to scan through. Thanks OP.

  • Sweet I've been waiting about 6 months (since I got my ps3) for final fantasy VII/VIII to go on sale, and now the time has come!

  • Great prices on PS1 games

  • Can anyone tell me how much these games (PSOne) were when they came out? I can't remember, I was only 10 or so.

  • Are the ps1 games they advertising hard original copies or are they remakes for the ps3?

  • Never mind appears to be downloaded content

  • Really? Over $7 for Medievil? I mean I love a game where you take your own arm off and beat people to death (again) with it, but $7.55… ?

    • +1

You know that's the normal price, right? sale price is $3

  • I think I'll pick up Tearaway. Remember hearing about it and thinking it looked like a lot of fun.

Nice price for GTA V. Still don't own it, but I'll probably get the PS4 version. When I'm ready. When the pile of shame drops down a little. So possibly another few years.

    • Wait till the remaster for Tearaway comes out next year on PS4. It'll be a bigger and better game.

  • To buy or not to buy…

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Classics HD
    Normally it is AU$29.95.
    This sale it is AU$24.95.
Easter (9/04/2014) sale it was AU$21.95.
Festival (30/07/2013) sale it was AU$18.25.
Knights & Witches (8/05/2013) sale it was AU$16.95.

    I see a trend here.

I have the the ICO and Shadow HD, got it for about $35 a few years ago. They're not really big discounts and the games are quite old and require a lot of patience to enjoy, which is a rare thing in today's gaming age.

  • Do any of these work on the PS4?

    • PS4 hasn't been around long enough to consider the games classics yet.

    • I would like to know this too. I would love to replay Ratchet and Clank trilogy on PS4, but I already have the discs somewhere for PS3 so no point downloading if I have to grab my PS3 out again.

      • Just realised when you click through to purchase it shows what consoles can play. No PS4 compatible.

I will probably pay $6 to get Vice City on PS3 though.

  • Great list hope to buy some titles

  • Sly Trilogy is actually great on Vita! Turns out it's also a crossbuy title with PS3, but only playing on Vita at present. Good fun.

Considering Metal Gear HD collection but not sure I'll ever have time for it, and I haven't even finished Unit 13, so might give that a miss for now. Read it's great but it's not without it's issues around controls and camera angles at times etc.

  • Just tried to purchase GTA V for the PS3 (at the anniversary price) and got an error saying "You are not eligible to purchase or download this content".

Anyone had the same issue and been able to sort it out?
