Korean Fried Chicken - Sydney - near Train Stations!

Only recently learned of "KFC" (Korean Fried Chicken) and I'd like to try some. Can anyone recommend a place that is close, or walking distance, to a Sydney train station? I may be visiting Campsie, Bondi Junction, or Chatswood on a Sunday soon, if that helps any. But of course it could be located near any station along that path… As long as it's open on Sunday of course. ;-)

Thanks.

Strathfield is full of korean eateries near the station, however I haven't been there for a while and not sure if there are any that serve fried chicken. There are some google hits however — try 'Strathfield Korean Chicken'

Can anyone tell me what the big fuss about "KFC" is?

It's just syrup coated chicken, a bit too sweet for me tbh.

But I know so many people who go crazy for it, I prefer JFC (Japanese Fried Chicken, Karaage) with Kewpie.

Same here, I'm a big fan of karaage. and kewpie mayonnaise. Much prefer savoury over sweet.

It's great, just like a chicken hof in Korea

    • This is the best.

  • Not sure if this is what you're after but there's a crispy chilli chicken dish that i LOVE from a korean chinese restaurant in Eastwood. it looks like this https://www.flickr.com/photos/avlxyz/2270628017/
It's near the police station, just up the stairs.
does this link well? google maps I think its that brown door if you go upstairs

    • This is the best Korean Chinese restaurant in Sydney. It is called the Yangtze River Chinese Restaurant. My family goes there once or twice a month and we travel from the other side of Sydney.

They do not have straight Korean Fried Chicken however they have some great dishes such as kkanpunggi which spender mentioned above (fried chicken with a garlic, chilli sweet and spicy sauce), jajangmyeon (black bean sauce with noodles - every Korean kids favourite), tangsooyook (sweet and sour sauce with fried pork, beef or chicken) and Uringi (crispy fried chicken with lettuce and a hot and sour soy sauce).

The restaurant is a little hard to find. It is not on the main strip where most of the Korean restaurants are and is not well signposted. As spender said, it's just down from the Police station next to a real estate agency and little Korean eatery. You need to go through a door which leads upstairs to the restaurant.

This restaurant is definitely worth a try for anyone wanting to eat out in Eastwood.

there is a shop that sell korean fried chicken at Eastwood, next to the frozen yogurt place, on the korean side of Eastwood.
    very nice

  • NaruOne? The location can be a bit off putting n the place is usually crowded but the chicken was yummy.

  • Thank you all for the suggestions so far. I believe NaruOne came up in one of my searches… But there were a lot of complaints about taste/service/waiting in line, etc.

There are some Korean places along Pitt St near Museum station.

  • There's Arisun down the bottom end of Dixon St and Liverpool St (5-7 min walk from Town Hall)

  • Did you see this post?

There is also Kyochon Chicken which is on the Korean side of Rowe street (no. 29) in Eastwood. It is a 5 min walk up the street from the station. I've eaten there before and they have some nice fried chicken.

I have also bought some takeaway fried chicken from the shop next to Yogurberry in Eastwood (tensai also mentioned this one). I think it is called Mad fo' Chicks. This shop is right next to the Korean side of the station just as you walk out from the platform.

  • In Chatswood, there's a Korean Fried Chicken place a few mins walk from the train station, on the corner of Victoria Ave and Anderson St - the corner of the Concourse.

It's not bad, though a bit pricey.
