[Humble Shop] Aliens: Colonial Marines $2.99 (Previously $14.99)

Wasn't sure if I should post this as the game is pretty bad and a bit of an unfinished product. Maybe for those of us who are die-hard fans of the franchise. I remember buying it for $5 so $3 is not too bad.

I want too but I've never purchased from Humble, I don't trust them. Unlike other companies (e.g. GoG) who give free games, Humble's always seem to come with some catch …… like having to like my Steam account to their stupid friggin database.

The reason for that has more to do with the fact that a lot of traders would buy their PWYW keys for 1c on a bunch of different accounts and then try to sell them on the market for inflated prices. But I can see why you wouldn't want to link your account.

ye i initially disliked the steam account connection.

        but it makes sense.
it stops people from buying massive bulks of code for nothing and selling it higher.

        • Linking my Steam account, or logging into sites with my Steam account always makes me nervous. Probably just getting old :/

        • @Ebany:

You are right to be worried, security online is a massive issue.

Personally, I just don't really care though.

        • @PoxyRadical: lol, luv the answer :)

      • I didn't realise they send games to a person as a Steam Gift, every other company I've purchased from just gives a key to redeem. That's actually not bad having the item as a Steam Gift, means it can be traded at a later date.

    • Not much of catch - they aren't storing your password to your steam account. You add your email address to GoG's database.. not much different, really.

      • Big difference. They state in their EULA that linking your Steam account to Humble means they're legally able to see all your info, watch the games you play & how often, etc. I have my account set on private for a reason.

  • Is this a steam key? Can't immediately ascertain if it is.

How times have changed. Years ago, I was a steam holdout and staunchly against buying steam games - now I pretty much hate if it is not on steam.

    • Yes, it's a steam key. Click through the link and you will see the steam icon under the heading "platforms"

  • Nice. Was the exact price in Steam 2 days ago.

    • it was $1.99USD a couple of times before on Amazon too ;)
