  • Is this for all stores?

    • Yes, as it is on the main page of their website (before you select your store) and also on facebook. If anyone finds any more decent deals I'm happy to make a list.

  • hmm, looking to get LG 34UM95…which 970/980 should i get to run it? SLI?

    • +15

Try getting the single most powerful card for your bedget, rather than starting with SLi (of CFx).

Save yourself the headache of scaling, driver bugs etc. Leave the SLi/CFx option for later if absolutely necessary

      • yeah cool. which 970 and 980 are generally regarded as the best?

the Strix and G1 Gaming seem to be pretty popular for 970.

        • G1 Gaming definitely. It's got the best I/O out of all the non-reference cards. It's also bigger on consuming power. Don't ignore reference cards entirely though. These days they're pretty good and the price is cheaper too.

        • If you are planning to go with SLI in the future, don't overlook the reference blower cards. They dump all the heat out the back as opposed to throwing it all into the case, in most cases they end up being cooler because of it.

MSI, EVGA, Gainward: Lower score on benchmark compared to Strix and G1, less power consumption.

Asus Strix: Better score on benchmark, Quiet, less power consumption (probably due to auto-off fan if card's temp below certain point).

Gigabyte G1: More powerful (Best score on benchmark), less quiet because fan is always spinning, hence, more power consumption.

  • Some okay prices on corsair and coolermaster mechanical keyboards

    • What do you recommend?

I was considering the Tesoro mech kb's from PLE on clearance which ranged from 69-99.

They also have 2013 Blackwidow with MX Blues for 79 but blues are too loud, prefer RED/BROWN so it's not too clicky.

I'm not too familiar with the corsair or CM range of kb's in comparison…

edit: i currently use the Logi G710+ but need another for spare PC or relegate this to spare.

  • Maximum 2 per product. Each customer can purchase multiple items.

    Thank you

Can I order online now for pick up this saturday? Do i still get the discount 10% ?

      • Curious to know as well

      • Not problem. Just place the order now and pick up this Sat with 10% discount :)

        • Hiya Rep, I went to the Ultimo, NSW store today. Picked up an ASUS monitor, sound card and 2 Cooler Master JetFlo fans. Was told the fans wouldn't be eligible for 10% off as it's just 2 items per customer that can be discounted. Showed the guy your website banner and he said yeah, it means 2 items per customer.

No big fuss, but it's just a bit of a heads up that maybe next time you run a promo, you should make sure all staff are on the same page. :P Employee was polite about it and nothing wrong with the service except the minor hiccup with your T&Cs for the promo.

  • In story only D:
Amazing deal for those with a store near them!

Edit: Wait.. I'm currently in Adelaide on a holiday… Msy has Adelaide stores… There goes all my savings, wish me luck!

This would have been a great deal, except the store near me (Geelong) is closed on Saturdays :(

    • So I sent an email about this to the Geelong store and got a reply saying: "This special does not apply to our store. You will need to visit the other MSY stores.". I don't see anywhere on the ad that says "excludes Geelong store". The next nearest store is about an hours drive away and I'll be at work before they open and after they close.

I was going to buy a new motherboard and ram, but I guess I'll just take my ~$400, and any future business, elsewhere.

Sigh. I just bought the Asus Strix 970 on Saturday. That could have been a substantial saving.

Any reason you didn't try Amazon? I got one delivered from Amazon US for ~$430 just last week.

      • No shipping cost ? does amazon offer 3 year warranty? you do have a lot of faith in electronic goods :)

        • +1

$430 included shipping. It was $349USD (which is the US RRP) plus delivery.

Amazon is pretty excellent when it comes to returns. Of course it's a bit of a hassle to go back and forth to the States, but I did save myself $100 off local prices. Not to mention I have never had a video card fail. Every other component I've had fail at least once - but never a GPU.

Unless there's a sale on, I generally don't find that there was any real benefit to buying any other components from overseas (aside from storage). For example, Amazon is only $12 cheaper on the 4790K I just bought - not worth it.

      • Yes. Warranty returns. For video cards and motherboards I buy locally. I've had a few problems in the past.

I've ordered a new CPU and RAM from Amazon and it should be here by the beggining of next week. Guess I can still get the Asus Z97-Pro for 10% off.
