  • Great prices wanting the 4tb to come more inline with the US and then I'll be cheering.

    • Because of the reduced Aus$ value against the US$, a 15 to 20% difference is to be expected.

      • Well aware of our currency, but no I do not expect to pay 15% to 20%. Example we nearly are at parity with Japan

        http://www.coneco.net/PriceList/1130904336/

Price is showing 17,980 yen = $185 AUD

The prices can still come down.

  • I get a message in chrome that the link has been infected by malware.Never happened before using a tablet at the moment.

    • Hello,

We will look into the issue now. This would definitely be the first time we've experienced this issue. Currently no one in the office has received this message on either Opera, FireFox or Chrome.
Are there any other details that you can provide us? Such as the error specifics or the malware that your browser detects?

      Regards,
      Francesca,

Good to see you again Francesca! Any chances of a deal on a larger MicroSD card?

        • +1

I second this, in need of a larger microsd, might have to buy 64gb from s/e if there's no deal here, but good prices on the other items nonetheless.

    • Got the same malware message here.

      It mentions: www.searchanise.com

      • Hello,

Searchanise is apart of our search function that is embedded into our site. It has been embedded into our site since our sites launch.
We are still looking into it, and we will try to resolve this as soon as possible. But it is possible that it is a false positive from Chrome.

        Regards,
        Francesca

        • Trend Micro is also raising warnings about Searchanise on your site.

  • Hey Rep, so is shipping free on the hard drives? At checkout there is an option of "Free Shipping, method at our discretion, may ship without tracking $0.00" - does this apply to these items? What do you mean by "larger items" ? It's unclear from the original post whether the free shipping applies to only the SD cards.

    • I just bought a couple of the 6tb drives and it also gave the option initially of free delivery, but further through the checkout there is no such option. In short, no free delivery.

    • Hello,

Unfortunately we do not have Free shipping for the Hard Drives that are available.
This was a minor issue with our system. It has been resolved now.
The regular shipping methods are accurate.

      Regards,

      Francesca

I picked up 2 of the 3tb ones from Amazon last week for AU$277 delivered, so this is not the cheapest u can get them for.

    • +1

I also purchased 2 of the 3TB from Amazon for 277AUD delivered last week … but I must admit that the PCByte is a very competitive offer and a great deal. I usually don't care about warranty and local stock … but when the difference is just up to 5% I definitely would buy locally.

Australian Retail had a tough time in the last years … with the weaker Australian Dollars this will change now and we might see Australian Prices be more in line with the overseas prices. Hopefully …

2 3Tb delivered from PCByte would cost me $300 - $23 more than Amazon. That's 7.7% more expensive at PC Byte. So whilst you can neg me, I can buy myself these https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_738774/jim-beam-dev… and drink to your stupidity. And have change left over.

Buy just one (Amazon - $138 delivered, PC Byte - $152 delivered) and it will cost you 9.2% more.
        .
I thought this was ozbargain, where the idea is to show each-other the best deals

        • Sorry epicaricacy. I did not neg you (as you have a valid point and a better deal.) As I mentioned up to 5% I would say it is a good deal … when shipping for 2 harddrives is $20 it's a tough call for me to call this a deal (as it is over my 5% rule). Still not a bad deal … but no idea why you get negged for that comment.

        • And you're not supporting an Aussie company, or getting local drives. Warranty?

I'd also have these before Christmas; Amazon take two weeks at a minimum unless you pay through the nose for express.

        • +1

@ctg: The Amex Deal had free express shipping and delivery took 5 working days for me … not bad. Local warranty is worth something … more than 5% … not for me. Supporting Aussie companies … yes … paying 5% more … no!

  • thnx

  • would be good if there were deals for NAS as well

  • Sorry rep, but your memory card is cheaper here and if one doesn't mind the brand, you can get a 32G class 10 for 4c more here

not negging because of your decent HDD prices though

    • +3

      Hello,

Samsung memory card that is currently on sale is a newer model that runs up to 90MB/s. The unit on eBay that has been linked is the previous model that runs up to 70MB/s. That is the reason why the price is higher even though it is on sale.

      Regards,
      Francesca

  • newbie question - If I have a WD RED 2TB internal hard drive - can I buy a 3 TB hard drive in my Netgear RN102 and have it in raid configuration

    • could be done, but your RAID would be limited to the weakest/smallest drive. i.e. your 3TB would be treated as a 2TB. Assuming both specs match (cache, speed etc.), you wouldn't have any performance issues though

      • +1

thanks for the advice - so I should just try to source a WD red 2TB drive - any specials on it Francesca

        • would it worth changing to higher capacity drives and replacing the 2TB all together?

        • @diddy50: I think, depending on the raid type, you put your new 3tb in as disk 2, it replicates, then replace your old drive (disk 1) with a 3tb and disk 2 will replicate onto disk 1.

Check on www.readynas.com forum either way!

Rep, you will save fifteen characters in the title by charging whole dollar amounts.

Prices weren't my choice Chyawala, but I'll keep that in mind for next time :)

    Are the Red's Nasware 3.0?

    • According WD website, yes, they are Nasware 3.0

  • ROLAND BRING ME BACK A SOUVENIR, s

  • hi rep. whats the story with your NAS enclosures? 28 listed but not a single one in stock it seems. I'm interested in Synology 213J or 214play.

    • Sorry for the delayed reply.
Currently we stock NAS's on demand. It usually takes 1-2 business days for the NAS to arrive at our warehouse after order and payment and we can usually dispatch it the same day we receive it.
For the 214play, I am certain we can get it in 1-2 business days after order and payment.
No word on the 213J unfortunately.

    I ordered a couple of 6TB reds.

You should advertise the fact that there's no fee for using Paypal - lots of sites add 2%.

Got my drives today - super fast shipping. Thanks very much.

Absolutely fantastic packaging - good quality padding around all six sides of each drive.

      I'd definitely recommend these guys!

  • Meh… only $1.05 saving on the 4TB. Not much of a special, IMO.

  • Paid $340.41 for 6 TB WD Red from Warehouse1 in November but this looks like the best price at the moment

  • Are these grey imports? Or do they come with full Australian Warranties?

    • They are local stock, and for sure, with full Australian Warranty.

  • Price has gone back up

  • what happened to 2pm Wednesday finish? Some of us were waiting for pay to go in.

    • Prices look the same to me….I just checked.

      • Something is off then, all prices are back to the usual for me, even after adding to cart.

        • Just checked again, prices have changed now….strange. Hopefully Francesca will be back to look at this for us.

        • +1

We are really sorry about this, will fix this asap.

        • +1

We have changed the price back.

        • @francesca2148:

Thank you for fixing those prices!

Just wondering if you got my PM referring to my order and shipping?

UPDATE: SOLVED!!! Thanks Francesca and PCByte - also lots of love for Roland as well!

        • @francesca2148: Thanks heaps Francesca, Roland and he team over at PCByte….I received my cards on Friday (basically overnight) you guys always go above and beyond and I can't recommend you enough.

Have a great Christmas and New Year
