Boxing Day Sales - Should I wait?

Hi Guys,

I know every year there are the masses of people that will wait until the 26th to make their purchases, but my question is, in anyone's experience , do you think the price will move on the higher end items, e.g luxsury brands? Is it really worth waiting out for Boxing day sales?

  • sales should always be better at the end of financial year

I've been finding some good sales around now.
Boxing Day sales are over-hyped IMO. Just the crap no one wanted during the year.

From memory last year's Boxing day sales were seen as pretty much a non event

  • Traditionally, if you game enough to stand in front of David Jones and be one of the first x customers on the day, you will get a giftcard from them.

  • Depends on your idea of luxsury, most of these luxsury brands never go on sale, if you want a cheap TV you may be in luck. Last year I had to do a lot of leg work to get a good price on a TV, turned out being the exact same price on the same TV come boxing day sale. Just need to be savvy

  • Even better.

If you have a credit card with price protection feature, purchase now and then claim back the price difference during the boxing day sales.

  • Is Apple usually do anything for Boxing Day? iPhones? ipad? macs?

  • maybe

luxury items tend not to have good sales, they may clear old stock though

  • black friday sales in the states are much better https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping)

  • Here are some boxing day predictions based off last years sales:

    Harvey Norman – 40%
