FREE Village Cinemas Gold Class Voucher - Mastercard MasterPass Ticket Purchase at Village Cinemas on Boxing Day Required

1110

UPDATED Make any ticket purchase online at Village Cinemas with Mastercard MasterPass on Boxing Day 2014 and receive a FREE Village Cinemas Gold Class Voucher.

Scant details unfortunately and i could not find any reference to the deal on either the Village cinemas website (www.villagecinemas.com.au) or the Mastercard website. I was browsing www.theage.com.au and noticed an advert on the main page sponsored by Village cinemas and Mastercard MasterPass. The advert would imply that the MasterPass purchase needs to be made with Village Cinemas, see the wording "One voucher for every online ticket transaction made" in the Terms and Conditions.

Thanks to people for finding an official page on the Village Cinemas site:
http://villagecinemas.com.au/offers/masterpass-boxing-day-of…

More details on MasterPass (i only just figured out what it was!):

*If in Victoria, this offer can't be used for Moonlight cinema, use the equivalent Event offer instead.

  • Saw an ad for it on my facebook feed but unable to find it on their page.

  • I saw the same ad yesterday on digital advertisement kiosk at Westfield Fountaingate.

    • Is there a village cinema there?

      • +1

Yep. With vmax & gold class.

  • +2

How do you find the link to the T & Cs

  • +2

We need more information, seems to be a good deal.

  • Have seen this advertised for a couple of weeks, but haven't been able to find any information about it

  • +1

Clicking on the link on brisbane times directs me to event cinemas website. No mention of deal on their site

    • Whats the link?

      • Clicking on the link just takes you to the Village Cinemas website (www.villagecinemas.com.au), which either:

        a) Indicates that the MasterPass purchase needs to be made at Village cinemas; or
        b) Village Cinemas have sponsored the offer, hence they'd like you to make the purchase on their website.

Unfortunately i haven't been able to find any more information on the T&Cs

  • So aside from the merchants listed on MasterCard's site, does anyone know of other merchants who accept this payment method?

  • -3

Village's competitor Event is on the merchant list …..

    • Same company

  • damn, just realized there is no Village in NSW after register the MaterPass, could i de-register it…: (

    • I was hoping it might work at both village and events otherwise its no good to us in NSW

  • +1

I have a Mastercard but assume that as it is the Prepaid variety I would not qualify.

I have a Village Cinemas card also, but from my personal experience the free tickets I "win" from frequent use promotions, usually is a ticket not for use of movies in the NFT "No free ticket" variety. This, unfortunately, means my free tickets are only useful for a tiny remnant of movies (hard to locate any), so my free tickets are not usually used. Certainly never for any new release or popular movies. It may also be a ticket only a child or pensioner could make use of.

Just saying; try to locate the terms of the promotion first or you may be disappointed with what you msy "win."

Masterpass is a PayPal competitor and it doesn't matter what card you fund the account from.

  • +1

Is this like paypal? Can I use any card to checkout with master pass, and once done as long I have entered my details they will email me a good class ticket?

    • +1

Is it actually a Gold Class Ticket? or just some sort of Gold Class Voucher?

  • +4

Further note - the tickets are only valid in Tasmania and Victoria according to the terms and conditions.

I took a look on the event cinemas website and there is no equivalent deal. Bummer!

      • Normally we are excluded in Tas so +1 on this deal :)

      • Missed that. That on the silly PDF file? Hate having to download a PDF file when they can just leave text on page.

Edit: oh it's just that site page only has Vic and Tas cinemas to choose from.

  • looks like only CBA, Bendigo, Bankwest, and NAB are affiliated with masterpass :(

  • +2

Looks like moonlight cinemas have the same offer!

    http://www.moonlight.com.au/adelaide/files/2012/11/MasterPas…

  • No Village Cinemas at QLD - can't find any details if Event Cinemas are included…

    • +1

      Yes they are.

Edit: oops just read that it's Victoria and Tasmania. Not sure if Qld is on it.

Pretty dumb placing ads for it Australia wide if it's only in two states.

    • Am I reading this correctly? Every purchase I made with village only will entitle me to get a free gold class ticket?

      • I tried to purchase e-vouchers but it doesn't let you pay for it with masterpass.

  • Can my Visa card be linked to master pass like paypal?

    • Haha good question. I had just activated the Woolies VISA last night as I needed to in order to apply for 1.99% (9month) balance transfer from Amex but didn't really want to until my MC actually expired on Jan 2015.

Might miss out if I can't link VISA to MasterPass.

  • Event is on, saw it on SMH.com.au …..lol

  • Oh it's a bank account link thing not a MC credit card. Hmm don't bank with CBA, Bendigo, NAB or Bankwest.

    • Where it is said that "It's bank a/c link". I have just linked my NAB Master Card Credit Card with MasterPass and it is all done.

      • NAB. Log in to NAB.

  • So to make this clear, you can use any credit card/ debit card with either visa or MasterCard logo and link it to master pass, And be able to claim my free gold class ticket when paying with Masterpass???

  • +1

So if I was to buy 4 tickets, do I need to do 4 separate transactions? Or is it 1 free ticket per ticket bought? Confusing..

    • I was going to ask the same question. Sounds like you would need to place 4 orders.

      • Yeh i think its better to be safe than sorry after you place 1 big order..

  • Eventcinemas is such a larger company with more branches, if they want to be successful why didn't they go with them for his promotion?

    • Event are doing it, just no one has been able to find a link to it yet. I've seen it as an ad on facebook myself.

  • -2

What's good about MasterPass apart from this promotion comparing to PayPal etc.

    • +2

You get a free ticket with master pass! ;-)

  • So you get 1 free Gold Class ticket, as long as you make 1 transmaction with masterpass?

Any limit to the amount of transactions per card?
Reading the comments seem to imply buy 1 gold class ticket, get 1 free?

  • +1

Wonder if you can buy telstra thanks Ticks with this..

  • This is a good deal if we can buy discounted tickets to get the offer. I think its expensive to pay for full price movie tickets now.. The Telstra tickets could make it ok, I suppose its still better than paying for Gold Class but still. Fingers crossed for Boxing day and we can get a cheap deal :)

  • Anyone know if this works if I have Prepaid Vouchers and pay a $1 booking fee??

    • It seems to only work with gift cards.

  • I was looking at using the gold class between 27-29th of dec but all screenings were marked NFT ( no free tickets) :(

  • Looks like the payment gateway only allows MasterPass with ticket purchases.

Their shop only allowed a credit card.

    Seem like completely different sites.

  • Does anyone know if it works with telstra thanks movie deal? Thanks

    • Just booked some tickets now. See if they come through on Saturday.

      • did u buy each ticket in separate transactions?

        • Yes, 4 separate transactions so hopefully 4 Gold Class tickets. But I did go through Telstra tickets so hopefully it does work.

        • @unity1:

Cool let us know unity1. I might buy a couple as well. I assume we can buy to watch next week. Doesn't have to be today.

        • @Littleb: I will but the promotion ends tonight, and the gold glass vouchers wont be emailed until 27/12

        • @unity1:

I bought one tix so far. The website is now down so looks like I might be going to the movie by myself haha!

  • I did a quick research, Masterpass seems like a quick alternative to Paypal!

  • I am assuming as long as you make a transaction on boxing day you qualify? Rather than having to watch the movie specifically on boxing day?

  • Anyone get any kind of confirmation if the gold class tickets? Also not sure if I've used the right method. Clicked master pass but then I used the cba wallet thing. Is that correct? In the Sydney thread they are getting a confirmation for the gold class ticket's.

  • Trying to book tickets this morning but it is a serious pain in the ass. Have put one through successfully but when trying a second ticket the masterpass keeps looping - village takes me to the masterpass site for payment - make payment - then village cinema site says you need to make payment.

    • +1

      Clear history

  • +1

Anyone having issue with the website? It's so slow and keep crashing.

    • same issue over here sadly =(

  • Masterpass is asking me for an invitation code. WTF?

  • Seems the village cinema website is seriously fvcked this morning.

  • Yep Village is dead, went to all the hassle getting masterpass bs that I will prob not use.

  • first and last time using masterpass. terrible system, had to reset my password multiple times as it kept giving me errors. i've got little faith i'll even get these tickets tomorrow.

  • Yeah giving up, had a few pages loading but of no use because there is a time limit. So need a few consecutive successful page loads, not gonna happen with the site like this.

  • It's working again now. The village website. Slow but working. I finally got two tix through telstra movie rewards. Let's hope I get the gold class vouchers

    • Hi Littleb - I'm now wondering if my order indeed went through - it failed on the last confirmation step. It seems like my Village Movie Club account had been incremented, but I cant see the future booking. I can't see anything on my credit card yet and no email.

Did you receive an email for your order? At the very least Paypal would always send an email…

      Thanks
      Tim

      • Tim I managed to get one booking through (via Telstra rewards). I did receive a confirmation with my ticket from the cinema but nothing from masterpass.

      • Just an update - I was able to locate the tickets using my email registered with Master Pass, and the last 4 digits of the credit card.

Website timed out on order, no email from Village, no email from Master Pass.

        • what do u mean by u were able to locate them?

      • Tim, I had a timeout this morning too but my credit card wasn't charged. I receive email for the ticket straight after it was confirmed. Not a good purchase experience but I think it might be village website not masterpass. I'm not sure.

I received email from village not masterpass

        • Thanks Littleb, yeah still unsure whether the payment went through because Citibank doesnt show authorisations. I will find out a few days later…

Sounds like there should be an email from Village which I dont have. Having said, not surprised if their emails fail because of busy server.

          Thanks for the help everyone!

gogo123 - yes that was for me too, stuck on loading after final step, then timeout.

  • Damnit. I went through the whole payment process(SLOWLY) and and hit the "buy your tickets" button on the final step and now its stuck on the loading box..

I dont recommend anyone try to buy tickets until the site is back to speed.

  • how do i sign up for masterpass?

  • Seems to be working a little better now, just successfully completed two separate Telstra ticket transactions (and got Village confirmation emails). Looking forward to seeing if I get these vouchers tomorrow.

  • Masterpass isn't up. After several failures, It kept thinking that I'm 'Christopher'. Whoever it is, I hope his account hasn't been hacked… I can click the sign in button as many times as I want at the moment… Could write a script to get into the account easy…. Now all I want is to deregister from Masterpass.

    Welcome Back, Christopher! (Not You?)

  • Had major problems getting it to work on Firefox, worked like a charm as soon as i used Chrome.

Fingers cross the GC tickets come through.

  • +1

Could you use masterpass then select commbank wallet?

I couldn't use the masterpass option as I didn't have an invite code?

    • That's what I did.. Here's hoping, but I'm doubtful.

      • I've got all my vouchers emailed to me

  • Got voucher using Telstra offer.

    • Ditto, thanks heaps OP.

  • Just got all 3 Gold Class vouchers!
Made 2 Mastercard MasterPass transactions before 11:59pm and one after.
Such a slow system. Won't be using again.

  • All vouchers received. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Just got 2 vouchers…one purchase made at 1158pm and one at 1202am…yay!!
Wasted so much time getting the tickets though…both Village and Masterpass shocking.

  • Thanks OP, received all 4

  • Received 3 vouchers, thanks OP one of my favourite bargains of late
I will not be using Masterpass again however as it took far too long to get my transactions across the line!

  • Got my 4 tickets plus an extra one free!

  • Wow, they actually did it per transaction, for some reason I thought they would back out. I got four gold class free plus bookings for four movies this over the next 7 days that I would prob have seen anywawy(hobbit today :)) $40 total.

  • Got my two vouchers too using telstra offer. Awesome. Thanks OP

  • received 2 even after 1 transaction after 11:59 somehow @_@
