Don't bother with LFD unless you use Hola and buy it from the US store. The AU version is censored/low gore.

That is incorrect, it was reclassified under Australia’s new R18+ rating and the Australian version is now uncensored, same as the US.

  • I tried for half an hour last night to purchase Borderlands presequel via Hola but it didnt want either of my payment methods, would only finalise through the AU site, at a higher price. What is the trick?

U need to turn hola off at checkout

Pretty sure the Mac BioShock works for PC as it is steam works. I purchased the DLC from nuuvem (Mac) and it worked fine

  • Is it just me or was Age of Empires 3 the biggest let down compared to it's predecessor.

I played once and uninstalled. I still have the boxed copy of the Gold Edition.

    • I really liked it, but I didn't play much of AoE2. I pretty much only play AoE3 for LANS, Cossacks for any other time. The people I LAN with can't handle the complexities of Cossacks ;)

    • Takes a little while to get used to it, but I like it. Not as much as AOM, but fairly close.

Is it just me or was Age of Empires 3 the biggest let down compared to it's predecessor.

I played both extensively, but they are rather different games, not only in context (early Medieval versus Colonial Era; more ranged combat) but the economy side of things as well.

Me personally, I found it annoying in AOE3 that each civilisation only had one type of wall, which was fairly weak against late-game, upgraded cannons and one type of fortification/tower with a limit on how many towers you can build.

It meant defensive strategies and sieges were rendered null and encouraged rushing.

It was also overall a much easier game with Home City shipments, factories in the Imperial Age (that just cranked out whatever resource you needed), very generous Trading Posts and scattered treasures on the map. The lack of unit formations also made larger battles a complete mess.

Aside from that, I really liked it. Played the heck out of it when it came out. The physics and dynamic damage model for buildings looked epic, naval battles and ships in general were amazing and having a continual source of progression with the Home City/Cards upgrades gave each battle, even a small one, a better a sense of worth.

      • Okay, you guys have convinced me to give it another go.

It's just that you can't garrison units into things like towers and castles if you want to play defensively.

        That's why I really enjoyed AOE2, C&C 3 and Kane's Wrath.

  • Thanks, grabbed the Alien: Isolation season pass.
