I knew you were right ;)

      • Nice catch ozbargainers!

    • +1

      Damn you're good.
Can you predict when Playstation PSN cards 15% - 20% go on sales?

      • +3

The PlayStation Gift Cards are rarely discounted.

The last few times it was 15% off was during one of Amazon Big Sales Events (ie. Black Friday /Big Smile).

        • Interesting, didn't know.
I refuse to buy it off Amazon. So hopefully coles or woollies have a sales in Xmas.
          Thanks champ

  • +1

Damn now i feel stupid for adding $100 to my eshop balance… still might pick up 1 or 2 $100s to participate 🤑

  • Lets go!!!

  • +4

Time to rebuy a bunch of shit I have on Xbox and Steam to ride the Switch 2 hype wave a little longer!

    • +1

      Like what?

      • +1

        nier automata maybe. what else
        rdr2?

      • +2

My wishlist as the moment has Red Dead, Bioshock, Catherine, Tony Hawk 3/4, Lego Marvel and a fair few others that I own on at least one other platform, but would buy again (again) for the right sale price.

      • +1

the Portal 1 and 2 are on Switch, too. they run awesome even on switch 1. I love being able to play portal wherever I please lol

I wish we could have HL2 in there

  • +2

Can we combine with this NSO deal?

    • +3

      You should be able to.

Just load the Nintendo eShop Card to you account and use the credit to purchase/extend the NSO membership.

      • Thanks!

        • +1

97.8% certain the NSO memberships use the eShop balance before billing your 'other' method of payment 👌

          • @cobknob: It does, I used the last of my wallet balance from last time I topped up on 20% off gift cards to extend my sub and get that +2 months deal

    • +5

Yes. I just topped up the card into account balance and manually added another year of NSO to my account. I received the 2-month bonus a few minutes after confirmation.

      • Amazing thank you!!

  • nice

  • Can I get switch 2 with this?

    • No, the Nintendo eShop Card can only be used to purchased Digital Games/Membership

  • -1

I wanna see a competitor beat em 😂 however unrealistic, maybe officeworks - or perhaps Bunnings will get into consoles and they'll use their good oye statement, our eShop cards are exclusive 🙄🙉 so we can't price beat

  • Nice!!!!

  • Is there an expiry date on your eshop balance? Any risk in stocking up now and using it over the next few years?

    • +5

The Nintendo eShop Balance limit is A$375.

The actual Nintendo eShop Card don't have an expiry, so just load when needed.

Also the 20% off sale usually happens annually around September, so don't need to stock up on too much.

      • Sweet, thanks!

      • Thanks, I didn't know there was a limit. I loaded up to $300 last time.

  • +5

but.. but… Silksong comes out tonight… pay full price, or wait nearly 2 weeks to get discounted cards to pay for it then…

    • Or use the cards you've stashed almost a years ago?

    • +3

20% off 30$ is 6$. I don't know about you, but I waited 7 years for Silksong, and I'm not gonna waste another 2 weeks to save 6$ lol

  • Being in-store is there evidence of tampering with these types of cards?

    • +1

      It's a 16 alphanumeric code behind a scratch-panel, so unlikely.

Also not highly sorted after like Apple Gift Card (which can be used to purchase physical Apple Devices) or Prepaid Cards (EFTPOS Cards).

      • +7

If it's done alphabetically the Nintendo gift cards will be sorted after the Apple ones.

      • +1

So are the Teen TCN ones and they get hacked https://youtu.be/oBarXDL23hs?si=NxwhSre1VPMYy7Sa

        • +4

That cause the TCN Cards Number are visible and you just had to brute force guess the 4 digit pin (and there was no limit for guessing on the TCN Site).

  • Can't believe I'd see this again in such a short interval!

    • Short interval? 20% off seem to come around yearly?

      • It's only happened in the past two years. Before that, the best offer was 15% max.

  • Nice - reminder set

  • THANK YOUS!

  • nice!

  • 20%!!! This is a ridiculously nice discount :) Good timing too, I just finished the last of my 10% off eShop credit buying DBZ Kakarot this morning :)

  • +1

Can these be used to get the new Pokemon

    • +1

      Yes

    • +2

Yes, but not necessarily the best discount:

      • If you want digital, likely you'll be able to get code vouchers on eBay or FB Marketplace once the Z-A bundle consoles are released. Some people would buy them and sell off the code at lower-than-eShop prices
      • Physical is already cheaper than eShop price + discounted eShop cards
      • It's likely the NS1 edition of Pokemon ZA would have further discounts, then you can buy the upgrade pack ($20) with eShop discount to save more

Though if you're hardcore fan and want to play as soon as the game releases, discount eShop card is the best way to save.

      • +4

        It IS the best discount:

        *Regular Price (Discount)

Purchase the 2x Nintendo Switch vouchers for $135 ($108)

Trade one $67.50 ($54) voucher for Pokemon ZA Switch 1 Version

Spend $20 ($16) for Pokemon ZA Switch 2 Upgrade

        Total $87.50 ($70)

        Bonus:

Spend the other voucher on Metroid Prime 4 Switch 1 Version and do the same thing.

  • Decent discount. Great for lazy people like me who don't like switching carts.

  • Can I price match this in JB?

    • +2

      Let us know if successful?

      • +1

will do, cannot see JB excludes gift cards in price match policy.

      • Hi mate, just managed to price match it in JB, got 2 $100 ones and paid via gift card to get further discount.
Actually went to two JB, the first one didn't let me price match it because they cannot change the gift card price in the system, but successful at the second one, the trick is they are not able to change the price of gift card on the computer where the system pops up a message that won't allow the staff do so, but one of the managers at second store straightaway found a workaround that he is able to do manual price override on the handheld device, but only for $100 value gift card somehow.
        Good luck :)

    • Maybe try Officeworks!

  • Dang I’m out of town.

    • Hopefully there's a Coles wherever you are!

  • New to switch, just got one from recent ebgames deal on ebay.

Could someone enlighten me whether this can be used for something other than games? Whats the pros and cons of buying digital vs the physical one?

    • +2

You can trade and share physical copies but digital cannot (well technically you can share virtual game card for up to 14 days in the same family group, if that counts). As long as you have enough storage, you can bring all digital games with you on the go, while you'll need to keep the physical cards with you with risk of losing or damage them. Though physical cards have boxes for presentation which collectors care a lot. These pretty much apply to all platforms, not just Nintendo.

eShop cards can be topped up in your Nintendo account as account balance to pay games, DLCs, pre-orders, NS Online memberships, etc. Note "My Nintendo Store" (the one that sells physical goods, including NSO member exclusive controllers) only accepts credit cards, not account balance.

      • Thanks for the info!

      • Unless it wasn't clear you can also sell your games when you finish it, which you can't do with digital.

  • What exactly enforces the 5x per customer rule? Can’t I just go to another store and pick up more as long as I don’t scan Flybuys?

    • +2

The only two things that enforce the 5 per customer rule are:

      • The checkouts. The checkouts will return an error if you attempt to purchase more than five gift cards in the transaction. Obviously, the workaround for that is to split your purchase across multiple transactions.

      • Store staff. Considering purchases of gift cards require staff approval, if a staff member notices you are trying to purchase more than five gift cards, they can stop you if they want to. If you want to avoid this potential hassle with staff, the easiest things to do are (1) go to another store - assuming another Coles is nearby - or (2) return to the same store on a different day.

This deal does not mention anything about Flybuys, so if you scan your Flybuys card during the first transaction of 5 gift cards, Flybuys will not stop you from purchasing more gift cards in subsequent transactions during the same day.

      • +1

        Thanks!

      • Flybuys stopped me from purchasing more gift cards in subsequent transactions during the same day when it was a Flybuys specific deal. It was a 10% off if you use flybuys too, not a flybuys points offer.

  • This is a great deal, but I can't think of anything coming out in 2025 that I would actually buy. Next one on the radar is monster hunter stories 3 and fire emblem

    • Pokemon za, Kirby air riders, Mario galaxy remakes, Dynasty Warriors Zelda 2

    • +2

      Metroid Prime 4!
Plus I'll finally pick up Echoes of Zelda.
Gotta milk that voucher before it vanishes :)

      • +1

Oh I didn't even think to check the voucher list ever since the notice went out a few months ago that it was being discontinued, didn't realize Metroid 4 was up there. 20 bucks for the Switch 2 upgrade though? Ugh, really puts into perspective how some studios are doing their upgrade for free or $1.

Mouse controls will be super interesting for that one though, cheers for the heads up.

        • Yea Switch 2 really sees Nintendo in their arrogance era, fresh from the success of the Switch. I'm sitting it out for now… I'll probably succumb to the pull of the Nintendo exclusives in a few years, most likely after the Switch 2 OLED is released (for an even high price 😭)

  • unable to find a $200 card and realised there isn’t .

  • +5

This will be good for the Donkey Kong Bananza DLC. Just kidding, I'm not paying $24 for that.

    • +1

Cut to me just pressing the purchase button on that 🫠

      • +3

I genuinely hope you can find $24 of enjoyment in it.

  • +2

For those playing at home the limit is still $375 balance at one time. And you can't get around it by preordering games either as payment is only taken max 7 days before release.

    • But you can buy a voucher to spend that balance today :)

      • Yes true if you only want switch 1 games or games with a switch 2 edition

  • +1

Thx Op! Was plenty at my almost local smaller Coles. They didn't even have advertising up…

  • Grabbed $160 to top up, cheers.

  • New to this. Is there any benefit of getting larger value voucher compared to smaller? E. G. One $60 vs two $30? Or are they exactly the same cost and benefit, just preference? I am not planning to buy more than $100 worth anyway, so 5x limit is not relevant for me

    • you might want multiple lower values if you switch between global stores for a better price.

    • +1

they will be exactly the same.

  • +2

Can this be used for Nintendo Online subscription? And slightly off topic, is Nintendo Online subscription worth it? I have emulators to play retro games anyway, and I am a casual gamer, not much into competitive gaming online.

    • Yes, it can

  • +1

Got $100 and paid for the online sub (non-expansion), silksong and fast fusion, with some bucks left over :D

  • +3

Just a reminder be careful and check the card code isn't scratched at the back before you buy. My wife bought one of these today for my Son for christmas. We were about to put it away for said christmas and noticed someone had got the code off the card. We checked the code in the eshop and it still had the credit. So we loaded it now as an Early Christmas present to prevent someone sniping the credit in the meantime.

Again. Check the code isn't scratched.

    • I worried about this (before I read your comment) and checked that the back of the gift cards were pristine and not tampered with.

I went to the check out and it required an activation by a staff member, so I think that is how they stop people simply scratching the foil off to steal the codes.

    • Codes aren't activated until you pay for them at checkout. So even if someone takes them without paying or scratches them, they aren't usable unless paid for at checkout

      • +4

Someone can set up a bot to regularly check whether a code has been activated. If the card sits in drawer unused until Christmas that allows for a long time for it to be checked, redeemed and on sold by someone with the code.

  • Check Yello Rewards for Coles cashback. Got a $10 if you spend $100 deal just now.

  • Thanks op! Bargain.

  • I bought 2 $100 ones and they didn't work. got a response back from nintendo and they say it wasnt activated and have to talk to Coles.
It's not looking good. The person at the store said they can't do anything, now i'm trying online support. i'm probably just out $160 from system whoopsie.

    • +1

Do you have a receipt from Coles where it says activated?

      • Receipt says activated, Nintendo says it's not.
Coles online got back to me only to ask some pointless questions about scams and didn't address the issue at all
edit: specifically the receipt says "approved" in the section with the gift card details. If it's supposed to say activated in the gift card section then that would be the issue.
