  • Would love some feedback on this compared to the LG 42LB6500.

    • +1

6500 is 100Hz if your after that, but then this has Sony's Game Mode

    • +1

While I don't have experience with these Sony TVs, I do have the LG 42LB6500 in the bedroom. I love the WebOS interface as well as the speed of the apps. I also like how there's PlayZ for Plex on these LG TV's.

From what I've read, both are great TV's, both should have Freeview Plus. The LG, again from what I've read, does have a faster experience for apps, if that's your thing.

    • I wasn't going to buy an LG panel again, but after seeing one for the last few days where I was staying, it didn't look too bad.

The main thing in one of the Sony's reviews is blacker blacks, otherwise I'd be happy to check out both.

  • The low input lag on the 42 inch W800B makes it amazing for gaming. Just be aware though that it's basically a completely different TV to the 50Inch variant. The 42" doesn't have any of the 'motionflow' settings that the 50inch model has and doesn't have any sort of LED dimming. Still a great TV for the price.

    • It has frame dimming

      • No. It doesn't.
I have one in my bedroom, and there is no option for frame dimming on the 42".

That's weird cause it shows it in specs on the Sony website
          http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-42w800b

        • @TRENT86: Ah OK, I just did a little big of digging on google and it does, it just isn't adjustable like the other models. On the 55W900A Bravia I have I can set the LED dimming to off, standard or low but on the w800B 42" it just has a permanent setting when using cinema mode etc.

  • Choice.com.au rates the Panasonic dead last of ~100 odd TVs (2013 and 2014 models only). :(
The Sony is in the top quartile

… And if you want any more details, you should buy the subscription!

    • Well, I don't believe you then without proof :)

just got our Dad a Choice sub for Christmas - didn't realise you don't get access to the old reports - that's extra. Oh well, he was happy.

  • Read somewhere that this screen has a 'grid' effect due to a filter layer required for passive 3D…that the pixels are 'separated' from each other more than on a 2D or active 3D screen.
