Good - I'm sick of those HDD kits that you have to build yourself

  • Seagate have higher failure rate than WD, is that correct?

    • Yes, and Hitachi is better than both.
Though the main problem seagate drives are the 3TB ones.
You probably wont have any problems with anything else, hell my 3tb one is still going strong a year and a half in, its luck of the draw with any drive.

    • There really needs to be an automated filter on OzBargain that just deletes posts with the keywords: "Seagate" "failure" "backblaze".

Because we have all those other better studies to refer to?

Backblaze's bottom line was that Seagate fails more, but it's still worth buying because it's cheaper enough to offset the higher failure rate. If you're running a data centre, anyway. :)

I have two of these Seagate drives. Because cheap. (And I have backups and redundancy).

OW have dropped their price to better the JB price.

This deal will either end tonight or in the early mornings of 1/1/15 as it's just a price match of JB.

Sure it'll void warranty but i'm guessing these can be busted out of the box and used in a PC?

    • I've done it twice.

Done it five times. I'm going to need another one to replace a GASP hitachi 4tb that just died…

  • damn… wanted to get one tomorrow

  • lol I went in store today and the shelf price was still $159, although scanned as $186.

    • Pretty sure they have to honor the shelf price if they have the ticket there.

Unless of course it's osborne park who tells me that "someone" put it in the wrong place.

      • Yeah they did honour it, so all good
