Appears to be suit JACKETS, not the full suit? I found the title a little misleading

    • +8

generally a suit jacket only comes with the suit jacket.

In all fairness the title has been amended since his comment. It said "Suits" before not "Suit Jackets" as it does now.

How can you make it list mens clothes by sake discount and something that is in stock? Everything I've looked at is sold out.

  • instore or online only?

    • I would REALLY REALLY like to know the ANSWER to this question.

  • +2

    Was $569…….please!

    • +2

More like $300ish but still great value.

  • fantastic price. great quality stuff. would be nice if matching pants were discounted too!

  • +3

This is unrelated to the deal but the slogan for Fashion Lane annoys me.

    "Best fashin [sic] deals"

To be fair, when these were IN season probably a few years back they would've been $149 in store.

But yes, these are all clearance so they would've been at the $50 price mark for some time.

As an aside, Saba make great quality shirts- the cotton is much thicker and the fit is great. I got the majority of my business shirts from the Saba outlet in Birkenhead Point- stuff has lasted me much longer than my cheapo Van Heusen and the like

  • Textured U Sweater looks good the rest looks like David Letterman's wardrobe / River's clothing.

Be grateful it's not a Cosby sweater.

    Thanks OP!
Ozbargain and "working" through the holidays is a costly combination.

    • Can't agree with you anymore.

Well, the RRP $499 and $599 are really inflated price.

After I paid through Paypal, here is the real before discount price on Pin Stripe Suit Jacket:

Pin Stripe Suit Jacket (Item Number 9321143709232) $149.00 AUD
    Discount -$99.00 AUD
    Subtotal $50.00 AUD

    • Connor suit trousers are terrible quality (not to mention cheaply cut). My husband picked up four pairs cheaply 12 months ago, and all are now un-wearable - they have come apart at the seams, had hems drop or holes in the pockets. You are much better off paying a bit more for better quality!

      • I agree, I have a few Connor shirts and they're terrible quality, the material feels as if it's going to cut through your skin and the fit is off.

I much prefer Marcs when on sale.

  • Anyone bought from their online store before? Can you return the clothes to their store or you have to send it back by POST?

    • take some effort and click on the link at the bottom of the page..

      • I did see the return policy, I am asking has anyone actually returned the goods to the store for a refund?

Accidentally ordered stuff the wrong size. No link to cancel/change order

  • wondering if the quality real good and worth money? im really looking for a slim fit suit. As a short man (170cm), its really hard for me to find a good slim fit suit with the height. Shame :(

    • It's worth to get professional tailoring done for unusual body types. A good fit makes a world of difference when it comes to suits. Good quality suits will have plenty of fabric for adjustments. What was your budget?

      • I guess my budget can be around $500 its really depends on whether if its a really good brand and fitting or not. Could you please recommend me any store or tailor that u have used? You sound like a bussiness man who wear a good fitting fashion suit.

        • +4

Any good tailor will do letting in/out in suit jackets. Pants can be done really cheaply, for usually under $30ish dollars. Suit alterations will set you back $60+.

As for brands; MJ Bale, Herringbone, Hugo Boss (on sale only), Lagerfeld, Anthony Squires, Spurling/Zenetti (can be had for cheap on sale)

Go for 100% wool ones (Look for Super 100s, 110s, 120s, 140s etc and check for italian fabric)

I see that you're in Sydney, so go have a look at Pitt Street David Jones (Market St) or Myer. They both have half a floor worth of different brands suits and the like. Many of them will still have sales at the moment from Boxing Day.

As the fashion is now trending towards slim fitting suits, try and go for a slim suit. In my opinion they fit better; but do make sure that the front doesn't bunch up and crinkle because it's too tight. The most important thing when fitting a suit are the shoulders matching the shoulder seams of the suit jacket. They shouldn't be too far up the shoulder (indicating a suit too small) or have a gap due to extra fabric (indicating a suit too large). That being said, this can also be altered by a tailor. Also do consider the lapels. Big and thicker lapels are more conservative and traditional; and you won't find them on slim suits. On slim suits you'll get more peaked and smaller lapels. Also the suit front pockets will usually be tilted and fashion cut.

Blue hues are popular at the moment, and really differentiate yourself from the crowd of greys and blacks. Don't get something too vibrant blue, but a good navy slim suit really does do the trick. With slim suits, make sure you pair them with a slim shirt; i.e. the collars of those shirts will be smaller, and hence fit a skinny tie that is tied in a half Windsor fashion rather than the more traditional double Windsor knot that is more for traditional suits and shirts with big collars.

Shoes are also incredibly important. Far too often are good suits ruined by sloppy unpolished shoes. Stray away from cheap 'premium' brands like Julius Marlow (they really do just fall apart after a year of wear). Spend a minimum of $100-$150 on good leather shoes with minimum leather inner and outer. At a minimum, go for Florsheim shoes. They have up to 50% off at the moment. The best shoes are Goodyear welted shoes, of which the most popular are Loake, Church's, Llyod etc. they will last you a very long time and instantly look the part. These shoes are $400+ in retail stores so do get them online. Pediwear is a good site to get them at a discount, plus free shipping with a FREESHIP code. Make sure you get them fitted here at a store as the sizes do vary from regular shoes. You may find the shoes uncomfortable at first, but they will mould to your feet as the soles have cork in them.

Next, belts. Belts don't have too much of an emphasis these days as you can actually wear a slim suit without one. But generally, match the belt colour with your shoes. Don't get belt buckles that are too flashy, and make sure the leather is of a good quality. Smell the leather and you will know. Spend up to $100 on a belt.

PM me if you need any more help; more than happy to assist.

I'm the same height. Saba is pretty much the only store where I can buy suits off the rack. I get size 36 jackets and they fit me perfectly. Trousers are a bit trickier, and I usually need to get them taken up. If you wear a 36 jacket, get a size SS shirt. Their wool suits are very nice quality.

Look out for Saba sales (they always have them). You can sometimes get jacket+trousers for under $200. Their designs generally lean towards slim fit, too.

      • I can't find anywhere on their website what size in number the SS is equivalent to. It seems to be 34.

Never bought any stuff from saba.

$130 for a pair of boardies! Give me a break…

  • Please mark as "expired" as the items listed are out of stock.

  • I find the SABA material to be cheap, relatively. Definitely not worth the $500-600 price tags. But $50 is about right.

  • I tried to cancel an order within 5 mins of placing the order. It was an overseas call centre, and the Indian lady said it had already gone to the warehouse for shipment, so the cancellation wasn't possible. Give me a freakin break.
