  • Hi Jegan.m
If it's a local deal only please say so.
Damn long way for a lot of us to get a haircut :-)

    • It's in the Sydney CBD. Possibly worth a cheap flight if you're thinking about spending $50+ on a haircut. :)

      • Money wise maybe but definitely not time wise.

        • I was being tongue-in-cheek, but yeah, only if you've got plenty of time to burn would you consider taking a little holiday to Sydney just to take up this offer. :)

    • Sorry mate.. have detailed abt location now.. Cheers

  • +4

I remember taking them up on this offer about 18 months ago! The haircut was very nice, and the service was as you would expect from a high-end salon. They even offered me a free beer (or tea, coffee, soft drink, water…). I probably would have made them my (semi-regular) hairdresser if I didn't end up getting a job offer in Melbourne a few weeks later!

Recommended, if you can handle feeling like a bit of a cheapskate for getting something for nothing. :P

how could it be 18 months ago when it's a birthday special?

      • I received a free haircut from Detail for Men in March 2008 after clicking on one of their online ads and making a booking. No, it wasn't being promoted as a "birthday special" at that time, so you can argue the offer wasn't the same as the one in this post, but I received a free haircut nonetheless.

      • -1

Who cares about? Sooner the offer comes..the better..

        • +1

Who cares? I'm sorry for wasting your time with my comment; I was only trying to help by giving an account of my previous dealings with this hairdresser.

          • @[Deactivated]: Do they do Brazilians?

            • +11

@rthomson: Of course they do- they're not going to discriminate based on where you come from :)

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Hey mate, I think jegan was replying to gotbean's comment, not yours (according to the nesting). But that seems to have been misunderstood.

In other words, was agreeing with your post, that the comment about the birthday special was a nonissue, as the reason for the offer is irrelevant (hence "who cares").

            • @Narodnik: Ah, just noticed I got the nesting confused, so my apologies if there's been a misunderstanding. But then again, why did jegan.m vote positive for gotbean's comment?

  • Is this available for women as well?

    • -1

The website doesnt specify that..but the saloon is for both sexes.
If they wouldnt cut for ladies..I will demand to speak with the owner..
Let us know how it goes..

  • finally a good reason to say goodbye to the dreadlocks wonder if thats covered for 95 hmmm

  • This is great, but it doesn't state when it's valid until, and do you think I could take my son with me? Although that might seem a little cheapo and dodgy haha.

  • Why is that I'm willing carry and use supermarket dockets to save $2, but I think its kinda cheap and embarrassing to get a free haircut!?? Good deal, but I wouldnt take it…

    • Pretend that it's a $2 haircut that you are getting. Then you wont feel so bad! ;-)

  • +1

Normal freebies are guiltfree, even if you feel bad taking it, it's just a computer sending you the stuff. Here however, there's gonna be some guy staring you in the face for an hour or so, knowing that you're cheapskating their store.

This freebie seems to require some courage to get lol.

But hey, who cares what they think right? ;)

  • Man they really need more terms and conditons!

Can we book this a few months ahead?
Is it first come first served or random?

I do agree with a few others saying that it may be a little embarrassing…..

  • Who pays $95 for a haircut? Is it even worth $95? With all those $10 hair cut places in sydney i think they can do the same job.

    • Yeah they all do the same job of cutting hair, it's just a matter of how well they do it.

  • +1

I'll cut my own hair. guilt free, free haircut :)
    (J/K)

    Where did $95 come from?

    It's either $69 or $90 for men: http://www.detailformen.com/hair.html

    $85 or $110 for women: http://www.detailformen.com/ladiesmenu.html

    Men's premium hair cut includes:

    • full consultation
    • shiatsu massage (pre wash)
    • shampoo & condition
    • cut
    • rinse
    • hot towel
    • style and/or blowdry
    • prescription for hair care & hair styling products

They will probably expect you to buy something, though you aren't obligated but it will be awkward to decline.

Actually it will be awkward the very moment you walk in to say you are there for the free hair cut appointment.

This is so embarrassing just thinking about it, but I'm so wanting to experience a $90 hair cut without spending $90!

  • +1

$95 is in the title, can someone explain what a "full consultation" is? Step by step cutting each hair strand or simply what haircut you want?

  • +1

Have you noticed posh restaurants explain every ingredient of the meal in the most detailed way?

Same goes with expensive haircuts (in my opinion)

But i'd say consultation is just - what cut do you want?, we recommend this and that bla bla bla.

I'm going to test this thing out!

Call me cheap but thats what the promotion is for!

  • I'm so tempted with this, but yes it is VERY embarrassing. I need a new hairstyle too… I might ask a friend to tag alone or even book a free session too…

  • +1

Go there as a normal customer
Don't say anything about the free haircut
When they are done cutting, mention it's free
    ???
    Profit

  • thomas1987. you cant, you have to book it first

  • lol, I think I need a hair cut, but:

    1. I'm in Brisbane,
    2. They might cut your hair as an experiment.

So I guess not for me… but perhaps they're great. I hope something like this in Brissie pops up too.

  • I think this is a bargain and the place seems to have a good rep which is awesome but I always feel guilty when I take advantage of a freebie. I'm probably the only one here who feels that way.

Back to the point, definitely a bargain :D

    • +1

They know you are taking advantage of this, so they'll do something to your hair for doing so. bald? pink hair? who knows :o

  • I don't know why anyone would feel guilty or embarassed taking advantage of a free offer? Is it just because you have to front up instead of ordering it online? The salon isn't going to offer a freebie in order to deliberately embarass potential new (regular) clients. They are obviously after more business. I'd be more wary of the post haircut sell job - all those products they try to get you to take home :)

  • I don't think they will honour this, or maybe selectively.
imagine a thousand ppl booking in the same days. They havent called either to confirm since last week.

  • Cannot go to link anymore

  • That link is no longer available.

  • The link is working again now. I hope they honour it as I am looking for a new hairdresser and this would give me the opportunity to try them. As the link is active again I assume they will honour it, otherwise why put it back up? So voting positive now.

Finally I took the courage and went in for a free haircut yesterday.
Yes, you have to call them to book an appointment, do not specify you are coming there for a free haircut.
They do a very good job, and once finished they themselves offer it as a complimentry..if not then you may need to specify the advt you saw on their website

Note: I am new, please forgive me for wrongly voting for jump22's comments.

  • I need to make an appointment for the haircut, what if on the phone they'll say '..ok that will be ??dollars..'

or will it go normal, make an appointment, go there, get a hair cut, once your done say it's free.

    • You just need to submit the request online and then they would call you to confirm the booking.

  • i just want to have it as soon as possible like that post before me jegan.m said

  • time to trim my shaggy mane!

  • +1

Ok, i just had my hair cut this morning. I would recommend it without a doubt.

    a) very professional

    b) no mention or awkwardness regarding free haircut

    c) they offer for you to buy something, but you can decline without it being awkward

    d) i may well go back when i need another hair cut.

    A+ deal

    thanks

    • how did you book an appointment?
I booked it through the website and I'm still waiting for their reply

    • I just came back from my haircut and totally agree with the above comments made by ryivian. No awkwardness and a awesome haircut. :)

  • How long does the special go for? I've booked mine in for friday

  • Well that was fantastic :)

  • still no reply for me or friends negged

  • still no call yet from the company…i had done the booking last week wednesday!!! Do they only pick & choose or ????

  • are they suppose to reply or they book it in but didnt reply their customers or do you have to specify it in the additional comments?

  • Just got back from my haircut tonight.
It was definitely the best haircut experience I've had.
I was given a beer whilst I waited, and another after I had my rinse :)
Rinse with short massage followed by a great cut by an extremely nice female hairdresser called Liz.

Price is $69 not $95 as title suggests.

They will call you to confirm your booking, and then auto-sms you the day of your cut.

  • No pressure to pay or buy anything - but they do offer to book you in for your next cut.
Obviously a way of them trying to get new regular customers.
    Not awkward at all

  • Got my free cut. Felt like a millionaire. Great!

  • Best haircut I've had in a while… Will definitely go again.

  • I just came back today and oh man where to begin.

    1. They smsed and called to confirm the booking

    2. I arrived and the place looks nice and modern

    3. A short chat about the type of cut

    4. Snip snip

    5. Wash wash

    6. Finished

    No beverages given
    Massage was very short

I have a hairdresser in parramatta charging 25 bucks and includes the same as the above but has a much longer cut and massage.

The hair dresser Liz tried to sell a 28 dollar cluggy gel - no deal

Good hair cut but will not pay 70 dollars or what ever they are charging… rip off

  • I Have just been there and I have had one of the Very Best Haircut. My hairdresser was Nicky and She knew exactly what I wanted and did even better. Very Happy and for sure going back there again. Thank you So Much

  • Thanks to the person who posted this. Had my free haircut today by hairdresser Ana who did a very good job. For the cost of $69 per cut, I need to win a lotto to go there every month. Will try this place once in a while.
