  • Sorry for the vent, but I'd love to know the profit from making sunscreen. The price consumers pay is astronomical.

  • Coles Everyday Sunscreen SPF 50+ 1L is $10: http://shop.coles.com.au/online/national/coles-sunscreen-eve…

    • How greasy is that? I've been using the Woolworths Homebrand 1L(~$10) sunscreen for about a decade for work; it's got great sun protection, and it's really good for when you get wet at the beach, but that makes it a little too greasy for general use. About three years ago I switched to the Cancer Council 1L 'Work'. It's three times the price, but it's a little bit less greasy. I figure it's not a bad price when I only pay it once per year.

  • +1

1L 50+ sunscreen is less than $10 at Aldi also.

    • This is good stuff, and is created to Australian sunscreen standards.
      But it smells of coconut..

  • Why would the Cancer Council still be selling 30+ when 50+ has been around for ages. While still good, it's not as effective as the 50+.

I support the Cancer Council, but this is not a deal.

''Our view is that 30+ is all that's necessary,'' said a Cancer Council spokesman, Craig Sinclair

That was back in 2010 mind you.

    • I thought it was a regulation thing and 30/50+ debate was kind of killed here ages back, because claiming more than 30+ is actually scientifically difficult? The difference from 30 to 50, if I recall is actually extremely minimal?

  • +1

Mrs Altomic was all for cancer council sunscreen, and paying 3 times the price as other sunscreen, until I showed her how the ingredients are exactly the same.

Aldi stuff is good. so is coles

    • I don't think the Aldi stuff is sold consistently through summer :( but yeah, 1/3 the price.

    • Another +1 for Aldi sunscreen. Does the job and not greasy once rubbed in.

      • Last time I bought homebrand (Woolworths I think 5+ years ago) my partner complained it was too greasy and we ended up throwing it away.
Thanks for the input. I decided to try the Aldi one instead, their products are usually acceptable.

  • I got this last week, then I walked into Aldi and saw 1L of sunscreen for $9 :/
Also SPF 30+ I mean yeah ok, different brand but ultimately it's all just chemicals to block the sun, doh.

  • Should've bought your Cancer Council sunscreen at Coles last week when it was 50% off…
But yeah, Chemist Warehouse have pretty good standard prices in general.

Not sure this is a deal given it's probably their standard price?
I prefer the "work" version that is non-greasy and dries quickly.

  • Big W has 1L Sunscreens for $10 bucks as well.. Missing Oz so much, back in expensive NZ.
