Great deal on these protein bars if you purchase 2 + boxes of 12. Postage for me was $8.41 for 2 boxes. It cost me $26.31 delivered which works out to only $1.10 each! Great price for a 60g Bar with 20.9g of Protein!

There is also a great price for Swisse Recover Protein Powder Vanilla 900g for $12.99 + Post. Great to add to your order if you are planning on buying the bars!

The stats on these bars are great too - Low in Carbs/Sugar and High in protein! Much better for you then your usual chocolate treat and probably cheaper too!

  • I'm no expert but I wouldn't buy these myself. The malitol, the higher sugar and all those crazy ingredients that most other bars don't have….

    • Maltitol is a sugar alcohol used as a sugar substitute. It has 75-90% of the sweetness of sucrose (table sugar) and nearly identical properties, except for browning. It is used to replace table sugar because it is half as caloric, does not promote tooth decay, and has a somewhat lesser effect on blood glucose.

Most of the other ingredients are pretty standard when it comes other brands of protein bars! The magnesium, co enzyme, Q10, L-Glutamine & L-Carntine are also useful to promote muscle recovery.

My point is that there are much better alternatives to Malitol so I'm not sure why you would buy these.

The magnesium etc is nice but someone else will have to educate me on how effective it is in this particular bar.

        • After training I believe the sugar / Maltitol is useful to your body to raise your glucose levels which in turn helps the absorption of protein - I am no expert though!

Ideally as a snack it would be better to have no sugar / Maltitol which would put you in Quest Bar territory. As you can see you pay a premium for the premium ingredients. All depends what your goals are and when you plan on using these!

        • @zapzap1:

Malitol has nothing beneficial to your body before or after training.

Also quest bars have both low and higher sugar varieties and as you mentioned are much better bars.

The point is I'm just pointing out that these bars are not very good as much as Swiss would try and convince you otherwise. Just wouldn't want anyone making the wrong purchase.

If need protein bars for a certain reason you might as well get decent bars.

        • @samfisher5986:

As I said above > All depends what your goals are and when you plan on using these!

I am no food expert. Just posting a deal for the community to take advantage if they so choose!

My dad works for Swisse and these are actually made from apple cores and old Chinese newspapers.

      Hey! Dun Cha-Ping died!

  • which works out to only $1.10 each! Great price for a 60g Bar with 20.9g of Protein!

Its not about the quantity of protein. Its more about the protein quality.

Just looking at the blend in the ingredients, it doesn't look encouraging.

You can also make your own protein bars, heaps of recipes online.

Thanks ZZ1, used your referral link also..

Got some bars [normally paid $1.98 from CWH when on special], and a few other products.. great deal

    Cheers

    • Not a problem! Glad it helped and thanks for using the referral :)

  • Is the 900g protein any good?

    • It's not too bad. A bit high in sugar but if you are having it post workout it will be fine. It's good value for money when it comes to protein powder! All depends what you are looking for..

    • Here is a descent review of it

      In summary:

Swisse's Active Recover Protein Powder is a great alternative for individuals engaged in regular physical activity who are considering a basic whey protein supplement to incorporate into their diet to boost their recovery and performance.

Take note, this one is cheap due to its short expiry life. I think it expires in late Feb 2015.

  • -4

It's the same price every day on Grocery Run so this is not a deal. Having tried nearly all of the protein bars on there, Swisse are one of the worst tasting.

  • -3

Still a deal c9mpared to shops. Just coz its same price dosnt meqn u should neg it. Didnt see ur ass posting it. As a result ill pick 2 boxes up esp if the have the coconut.

    • -1

Oh okay.. so it's been available and at the same price for as long as I can remember (at least 2 years). I will now go and flood the forums and post every individual product on Grocery Run and COTD with my referral code. Is that what you want?

      • -2

no harm in posting a batch of really cheap items you think are decent like this, if they have the HLPC choc, cookies and cream for $2 - 3 it would also be a good deal….

i dont have time to visit every store and check them out and rely on oz bargains,.. things only get to the front page if they get enough +'s so no one stoping yo from doing it.

        cheers

ps, lose the attitude pls its un needed.

        • Again, so would you like me to post 20+ 'deals' of individual protein bars which have been the same price for years with my referral code so I can make money off you? You're not checking every store. You are checking one store which has them all on there - all day, every day. Considering these are one of the worst tasting protein bars and there are considerably better ones around with better macros for cheaper… no, this is not decent. Don't be a hypocrite about the whole attitude thing.

        • -1

          @Anon_:

          yes please.

  • +2

Thanks for posting the deal op!
    Appreciate it!

WARNING (for those who haven't tasted this) - I got this (blueberry) from GR many months ago as it's obviously a good deal BUT it tastes absolutely VILE. It's like cough syrup dipped in chocolate. Obviously tastes differ but be careful.

  • +2

The 900g protein at $12.99 is a proper oz bargain deal, that's the deal which should be the headline here.

  • Swisse bars and powder are the worst tasting, they really are disgusting. I threw out a 400g can of powder and box of powders, they were inedible. The powder is so grainy, dont know why. Lucky, they were on sale at chemist warehouse, so didnt lose too much.
