Best Child/Toddler beaches - white sand - shallow - calm water - Vic

Hi all

Long weekend is just around the corner. My little princess is 2 years old and starting to get up to a lot of mischief.

I'd like to take her for a long drive out of town for fresh air, seeing new things, prefer a nice and calm beach somewhere, easy access to shade area if needed, ideally very shallow and fine sand so she can explore the area with her soft feet.

Any recommendation?

Thank you

  • My little princess is 2 years old and starting to get up to a lot of mischief.

I remember when mine was that age, she was so cute. Now that she's all grown-up, she wants me to hide her prince charming in our garage. They grow up too fast :b

All the beaches will be crowded this weekend , so it will be hard to find any shade. We usually take along our sun shelter. We like half-moon bay in Black rock: nice view, shallow water, great place for a picnic, soft sand…

  • Balnarring Beach is great for toddlers soft sand shallow water about 1 hour from city.

  • Inverloch inlet is really nice and shallow, no waves to speak of. Cape Paterson, nearby, has a rockpool, gentle surf on the sand bar and life savers.

The website Beach Safe has a great search engine: http://beachsafe.org.au/

  • Elwood is nice As is Black Rock as noted above.

  • Any of the bay beaches from Dromana to Sorrento. I'm in Rye now, with my grandkids having just gone back to Melbourne.

When we were little, my dad used to take us to Carrum beach.
