  • Good price, but this is not the headless mode version - that is the CX10A - are there any codes for that one?

    • you mean brushless motor?

      • Headless is the way you can control it, not the motor. Most of these you need to keep track of which way the copter is facing - if you face it completely 180 then left is right, right is left ( looking at it) headless doesn't matter, left will always be left.

  • Been looking for a cheap easy to fly/durable heli or quad for my 9yo boy is this a good option?

    • +1

The CX10A has headless mode which is easier to fly. The coupon code does not work for that model.

      • Easier how, what is headless exactly?

        • +2

It means that the quadcopter's direction of flight seen from your viewpoint follows the controls directly, no matter in which direction the quadcopter is pointing. This is usually done with a digital compass. So if you press the stick on the RX to the left the quadcopter will fly to the left from your viewpoint. Without headless mode the quadcopter would fly to the direction which is on the left side of the quadcopter, so if the quadcopter is pointing towards you it would fly to the right.

          Cut and paste.

I'm thinking headless might less frustrating for a 9yo, and possibly for myself!

        • @ash2000: Oh ok, well that is not what I'm after anyway. Want him to learn orientation and actually learn how to fly :P

For a cheap indoor quadcopter for beginners I would suggest the Ni Hui U207. Can be had from Gearbest for $15.99 USD using code GBU207.

        • Why though?

        • While the CX10 is a great quad, its speed and agility can make it a handful for beginners. It also doesn't come with a prop guard and these tiny props can get damaged easily.

The U207 has built in prop guards, and is more sedate in its handling. It is also a bit larger which makes orientation easier. It has a removable battery, so if you buy extras you won't have to wait for it to recharge between flights. It's transmitter is not the absolute tiniest either which is a plus in my opinion.

There are many other quads which are good for a beginner and are more suitable for outdoors, however the U207 is one of the cheapest.

          Hope that's enough reasons :)

  • I have 3 of these, these are actually quite good, specially when you are still learning how to fly it as they take quite a beating.

  • Worth spending extra for headless mode?

I've never flown a headless quad before.

    • For me it would be.

  • Thanks OP. Didn't buy the copter from there, got the CX10A from Gearbest, but I did buy some of the accessories which the discount code does apply to.
